Wyciszkiewicz was relay depth anyway. Likewise Gaworska who is like heats depth at best. Swiety, Holub, Kaczmarek & probably Baumgart make up the quartet.

Lesiewicz might be selected as reserve.

I'm hoping that among mens Zalewski will achieve standard here during final. I know that for now he is enough high in ranking but it would be better for him to qualify directly. Im praying too for relay to make it in Sunday in Leverkusen :fingers:

Maria Andrejczyk in javelin isnt medal contender in Tokyo anymore. Nationals was her first event after European Throwing Cup in May due to injury and she still isnt in fully shape, but despite not being fit she takes gold with just 59.79m...

Seems like an overreaction. Overall the field isn’t very strong, so even 65 m might be enough for a medal.

A lot of our athletes will miss either or both nationals and Olympics.

Kołeczek (100 m hurdles) and Ennaoui (1500m) will miss both due to injury, Różnicki on 800m will miss both events too, but in his case it was coach decision due to "too young age"...

Swoboda and Bukowiecki for now, at least, will be in Tokyo.

Again Karol Hoffmann (triple jump) will miss nationals and that means Tokyo too.

Germany has the same problem:

Kevin Kranz (men’s 100 m)

David Storl (shot out)

Thomas Röhler (javelin throw)

Andreas Hoffmann (javelin throw)

Fabian Heinle (long jump)

Mateusz Przybylko (high jump)

Raphael Holzdeppe (pole vault)

Gina Lückenkemper (100 m)

Alina Reh (5000 m, 10000 m)

Konstanze Klosterhalfen (5000 m, 10000 m)

Cindy Roleder (100 m hurdles)

Pamela Dutkiewicz (100 m hurdles)

Kristin Gierisch (triple jump)

Annika Fuchs (javelin throw)

Carolin Schäfer (heptathlon)

Lucie Kinast (heptathlon)

All of them will (probably) miss Tokyo. Others like Niklas Kaul or Christina Schwanitz also aren’t in top shape. I tried to predict which athletes will make the final in Tokyo in each discipline, but it is pretty much impossible since many top athletes haven’t done anything this year so far.

Day 1 of the Lithuanian Athletics Championships highlights:

Tomas Keršulis was not known to nearly everyone in the stadium this evening, he started in the slowest heat of 400m and blew away the competition and everybody questioned the time posted on the clock. Nobody was able to beat his time in the faster heats and he became a Lithuanian champion in his very first competition in Lithuania. (he lives and trains in USA)

3000m. Steeplechase was lucky today for Giedrius Valinčius, who ran under 9 minutes and qualified to the European U23. It is the final chance to qualify to U23, the U20s still have an additional week of competitions.

Adrijus Glebauskas was aiming for the Olympic qualification mark in the high jump, but eventually he got stuck on 2.31 (3rd attempt looked good). He won the championship with a 2.29 jump, it might be good enough to sneak him through the rating system.

Highlight was the Discus Throw for men, where Gudžius without question won with a rather humble 67.21. What stole the attention of everyone was that Mykolas Alekna decided to take part in the competition throwing the senior discus (he only did that once last year). His best throw was 63.52, he became the 8th best thrower in Lithuanian history, broke the Lithuanian 19yo record and took the WL in his age group. His older brother Martynas came in 3rd with a 58.26 and of course during the medal ceremony, it was Virgilijus Alekna that awarded the medals.

Nothing too crazy on the women's side.

Urtė Bačianskaitė qualified to the U23 in shot put, she had failed to qualify in heptathlon and focused on the shot put instead.

Beatričė Juškevičiūtė also qualified in the 100m Hurdles for U23, but she'll start in heptathlon.

Everything interesting happened in the discus, where Ieva Zarankaitė broke her PB after an abyssmal season. It was the first time this year that she threw above 60 metres and her score was 62.08, which might help her qualify through rating. Second was Zinaida Sendriūtė with a competitive 59.51. Finally, Paulina Stuglytė, born in 2004, took the 3rd place with a 48.91. She broke the Lithuanian 16yo record, but was 9cm too short to a U20 World Champ qualifying mark, but she has qualified to the European U20 already earlier this month.

I'll come back to this tomorrow, Airinė Palšytė, Edis Matusevičius, Liveta Jasiūnaitė, Gediminas Truskauskas and a triple jump battle between Kilty and Zagainova are the things to watch tomorrow.

Day 2 of the Lithuanian Athletics Championships highlights:

Tomas Keršulis is one of the highlights again, breaking his PB by 0.46 seconds and finishing 200m in 21.00, taking second place and becoming the 18th Lithuanian to qualify to the European U23 championships.

In the men's javelin, Edis Matusevičius reached a SB of 83.53, he's been throwing a little bit further in every competition, hoping for the best in the Olympics.

For the women, Modesta Justė Morauskaitė won the 400m. Hurdles convincingly, she still has one additional start this year to attempt qualifying to the Olympic Games, she needs less than a second and she already scrathed off 1.5 seconds from her PB this season.

There were some tense moments in the high jump where Airinė Palšytė took three attempts at 1.96, which were unsuccessful and she finished with 1.93. She might qualify through the rating system though.

The Triple jump battle was won by Dovilė Kilty this time with a 13.89. She would easily qualify through the rating system, but there are already 32 women with a qualifying mark, so Dovilė has only one chance next week to get the qualifying mark for the Olympic Games. She had qualified for Rio in 2016, but missed it due to being pregnant.

Lastly, Liveta Jasiūnaitė won the javelin throw with a 60.79, she has been throwing over 60 metres consistently now and consistency is going to be key for qualifying for that Olympic final.

Looks like Armenia is really trying to build their team and get their diaspora athletes to compete for them. I've noticed that :USA Allison Halverson (heptathlon) and :GRE Kristina Alvertsian (triple jump) both now compete for Armenia. Halverson has posts about being Armenian on her instagram, so I guess her mother is Armenian? And Alvertsian obviously has an Armenian surname.

There might be others too, but these are the only two that I saw so far.
