season 2018/2019 (before that, from 2006 through 2012)

but they were always secondary rights (best match on wednesday + the final)

In this year they bought Roma's matches in the LE from the 1/4 and then the Atalanta-Bayer final. They didn't even show the Conference League final with Fiorentina did they? I was abroad at the time and watched it on Viaplay.

no, the Conference League was a sky exclusive (it's not part of the mandatory FTA broadcasts)

from august, there won't be any FTA match anymore...sky will retain all the rights for themselves (and amazon prime will keep the top match on Wednesdays)

With :LTU Gintarė Venčkauskaitė-Juškienė qualifying for the final, Lithuania secured second women's quota for Paris! Regardless if Gintarė finishes in top3, she now secured enough olympic ranking points, following her victory in World Cup Final few weeks ago

Do you remember when the football Champions League was last time broadcast on Rai?

Can remember that in the late 90s before geo-blocking we could get about 10 or more European games on a UEFA night from all the different countries.

Also Mohanad Shaban retired today , both him and Elgendy got injured , looks like too much competition between Egyptian athletes have overloaded them and caused these injuries

You want some real Mexican telenovela drama?

Well, it turns out that our team qualified two competitors for the Women's final, Mariana Arceo & Tamara Vega. Either one could surprise and get a direct ticket, just like Emiliano Hernandez did last year, but also they're in direct competition for a spot via ranking, with Arceo having a decent advantage against Vega.

Anyway, some time ago, Vega disclosed that she was the victim of grooming & sexual violence by his former coach Sergio Escalante (himself a former Olympian) and as a result, a criminal case was filed against him, with resulted in his exclusion at competitions by both the national federation and UIPM.

However, at last year's World Championships, Escalante (who had been acting behind the scenes as Arceo's coach) found his way into the athletes lodging and is claimed that when Mexican delegation found out, they asked security to escort him out, which caused an outburst from Arceo who immediately went wild and accused Vega of orchestrating the whole thing, even going as far as to make death threats to Vega.

So, of course, competition tomorrow between those two will be personal, even more because our NOC has already nominated Mayan Oliver as part of the Olympic team (a quota she gained at the PanAm Games) and thus, they are not likely to change their mind and reject the continental quota, even if both competitors could qualify via ranking.

Yeah, only one of them can go, which means one quota will be reallocated to next one in the ranking.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
    • Italy also has its own list, although of course not every injury is as terribile  in terms of medal losses. In winter sports have unfortunately much more injuries than summer sports. In the summer only: cycling, volleyball and football.     - Brignone: will return in January, - Tabanelli: will return for the Olympics, - Bassino: season over, - Marta Rossetti: season over, - Lara Malsinier: season over.
    • TNT staff expect they will offer it at a price similar to what they offering the Winter Olympics for rather than the full TNT price.   But equally the main coverage is apparently going to be very different to what they do for the Olympics (Which is less pundits and studio chat than the BBC) with speculation it might be based on NBC’s Olympic coverage with tons of human interest etc.
    • India Sherret (ski cross)   Another name to the ever-growing list of injuries for the Canadian team… used to be excited for the Olympics, now not so much…
    • Voted  Thank you for extending the deadline and allowing me to vote once my exams are over. @OlympicIRL
