The choices Eurosport makes is getting worse and worse. Maybe it's different in other countries, but here they have Weightlifting Group B on Eurosport 1. Literally everything is more interesting than the group B of a weightlifting competition.

Same in UK! Although we have Eurosport 5 that's broadcasting Softball with audio/commentary from that weightlifting competition too :lol:

I have said this before, but it has become a recent pattern in their tennis GS coverage. Some really questionable matches were shown on TV, while the more interesting/marquee ones were left for the Player. 

 

Also, i think the Olympic schedule hasn't been the best in Tokyo. In 2-3 hours you will get 3-4 finals at the same time cross-matching each other.. With 2 weightlifting finals today, they could have had one of them now, when it could have been shown and not bunched with other finals. It's not that early Japan time..

I really like this ESPlayer. Being able to watch any event I want is the most important. Then the lack of commentators is not really a problem for me. Most of them are talking stupid things all the time anyway . Watching live sport with ambient sound is the best way to do it for me.

South Korean broadcaster MBC, used images such as the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster to represent Ukraine, a Dracula for Romania, pizza for Italy, a riot for Haiti, a bitcoin poster for El Salvador and salmon for Norway at the parade of nations.

I have a theory as to why the TV coverage of the shooting in particular has been so awful this Olympics. Copied from a UK website to which I belong.

 

Exactly: it was extremely badly presented here. The English guy on the commentary is the one who does the regular ISSF broadcasts & he was complaining about it.

I’m wondering if this & other broadcasting problems are a product of COVID. Usually Olympics TV production for specialised sports is outsourced to TV producers who cover the same sports week in week out. But if they are not able to travel, it will just be done by Japanese TV crews who don’t necessarily understand what camera placements, on-screen graphics, replays etc etc are needed for that particular event.

it might well be...

 

in any case, it's the worst shooting range I've ever seen, the worst tv coverage I've ever watched and the worst Italian performance since Seoul 1988...

 

definitely not the best memories I'm gonna save for these Olympics...

      They may have to put Russia in the Calgary group to avoid any political issue in Czechia.   A group with Canada, Russia and the United States would be deadly. I'd feel sorry for the 4th team

      Well, I'm sad and happy at the same time. I'm happy because I expected it and we're not taking a spot away from a country that deserved it more.   But, we used to be one of the leading basketball countries, we were world champions and Olympic runners-up. Now we can't even qualify for a world tournament anymore, always losing to teams like Puerto Rico, a declining Serbia, an ascending Germany, and now being left out by the hardworking Czech Republic and Mali...   The worst part is that there won't be any improvement. Nobody cares about losers, nobody cares about women's basketball here. The national league is terrible, there are no young players, the national federation doesn't care...

      Besides the radical new football schedule, there was a bit of clarification of the tennis schedule.  The women's singles medal matches will be during the day on July 27, and the men's doubles in the evening.  July 28 will see the men's singles during the day and women's doubles in the evening.  Bit of an odd schedule there, actually.

      Well, let be real for a second here and not fly on parallel universe  the ONLY chance for Slovakia to take part to this is when Russia will not be invited.    And Seriously, I would not bet a single leaky penny on that to happen.   Imagine a tournament run by the most greedy businessemen on earth NHL lords, with the right to invite whoever they want and make whatever rules they want... and not inviting to their own tourney Russia who has more than 50 NHL stars in the league right now including the likes of Kaprizov, Vasilevskiy, Kucherov, Demidov, Malkin or Shestorkin.  Come on ! Not gonna happen, Russians will be there and will make the semis where they will lose to one of the 2 North-Americans before the Canada-USA scripted final.   Do not fall into the trap, this is all just for money.   And since Germany is a bigger and obviously more interesting market than us and have the superstars Drai and Stutzle to bring they will be picked as 8th over Slovakia on any day. Switzerland being the clear seventh for their bigger amount of NHLers is obviously as well.
