When is the last time an Israeli athlete competed in Iran?

And Iran has faced bans for that. Iran can't even think of hosting any prominent sports where there is a good chance Israelis would qualify. Also, the general consensus among sports fans is that Irani policy is wrong. I am ok with Russia being banned but then we can't suddenly say that don't mix politics and sports when India denies visa to Pakistani sportspersons or an Irani athlete refuses to compete against Israeli.

It will happen through if CAS decide to allow Russia to compete. FIFA won’t want to have to cancel the World Cup simply becuase a Court says Russia can’t be expelled. Withdrawing from CAS might be their only option.

Or maybe the Western countries should realize that they might be wrong this time if the Court or FIFA says that Russia can't be banned legally. Just because Russia broke international law and invaded a country, it doesn't mean that Western countries can now be free to break rules elsewhere. Play by the rules, beat the Russians on the field instead of fundamentally breaking the world of sports.

The public of those countires won’t accept playing Russia. Fifa has a terrible reputation already. This would make setting up a new Fifa easier for fans across much of the world to accept. If FIFA thinks countries will u turn they are badly mistaken. The people would take no world cup vs one with Russia in.

CAS surely knows that it would be doing so if they allow Russia to compete on a technicality based on the UN.

I suspect if President Biden says that if Russia is not suspended 2026 is cancelled FIFA would panic.

So POL and CZE are among the Western countries on Sundays, nice to know because I always forget on which days they are Eastern, Central and Western.

    • Stefania Constantini and her team out of Italy are heading their separate ways   Very confused to be honest, I know they had a bad season but I didn't expect to this happening... there's no real other options for any of them, unless they're focusing on Rock League/mixed doubles.   Italy has no other top female team, and the juniors aren't looking promising either, the last time they qualified a team to a World Juniors (not as host) was in 2014. Doubt the Italian Federation would let Constantini step away from the four-player game, she's too much of a talent, my guess is she'll "be forced" to go with Mariani (I mean her and Mosaner don't like each other much), still I have no idea who else they'd pick up given it's all five of them going their separate ways. Maybe Mathis will go back to representing Switzerland??
