Say, if Russia backs down from their Ukraine intrusion within the next 10 days would these teams revert their decision? Or have they decided to not play Russia permanently or until Putin is removed or what?

Hard to see teams  u turning that quick but if President Zelinsky says things are at peace then maybe teams would Consider it later in the year. Not in time for the playoffs.

Do you realy think he will back down ? he is just sending a 5 km convoy of tanks to Kyiv right now + was already openly talking about nuclear weapons threats.

This nightmare is not going to end well, even if he´ll "succeed" with Ukraine.

The world has changed last Thursday, for many, czechs included the sport is not priority anymore, playing russia is just unimaginable for them (and not only for them) if you ask me.

It’s very unlikely. But I suppose FIFA have to work on possibilities.

‘Swedish FA president Karl-Erik Nilsson told Fotbollskanalen they were "not satisfied" with Fifa's decision.

He said: "Our opinion is not different today and the situation has not changed in Ukraine just because we have received the message from Fifa, so we have no other opinion today.

"We also want to talk to Poland and the Czech Republic so that we can give back to Fifa what we think, but we had expected a sharper stance from Fifa. We would have done so." ‘

Outside of politics, if my predictions for the quali would become true, that's how the pots for the final draw would look like, according to today's FIFA rank:

1 :QAT :BEL :BRA :FRA :ARG :ENG :ESP :POR

2 :DEN :NED :GER :MEX :USA :SUI :CRO :URU

3 :SWE :SEN :IRI :PER :JPN :MAR :SRB :KOR

4 :NGR :CAN :TUN :SCO :ALG :ECU :KSA :PAN

FIFA would simply cancel the World Cup.

Ah fuck no, we are going to get "World Cup is likely to be cancelled" the whole year now, aren't we? Damn Putin, I thought we were done with this now that Tokyo and Beijing Olympics were over

  • 2 weeks later...

Swedish Football Federation is not happy about this decision. :mumble:

But it’s a strange situation. Whatever decision FIFA takes it will be always be complaining about it. :)

    • Stefania Constantini and her team out of Italy are heading their separate ways   Very confused to be honest, I know they had a bad season but I didn't expect to this happening... there's no real other options for any of them, unless they're focusing on Rock League/mixed doubles.   Italy has no other top female team, and the juniors aren't looking promising either, the last time they qualified a team to a World Juniors (not as host) was in 2014. Doubt the Italian Federation would let Constantini step away from the four-player game, she's too much of a talent, my guess is she'll "be forced" to go with Mariani (I mean her and Mosaner don't like each other much), still I have no idea who else they'd pick up given it's all five of them going their separate ways. Maybe Mathis will go back to representing Switzerland??
