Very respectable placing for Australia to earn their continental qualification. New Zealand, quite sadly, got eliminated on the post-ride inspection. Pretty good result overall for Japan, as they defeat three European teams. Much better performance than last year on the home soil in Tokyo.

 

Looking at the results, the United States did drop the ball quite a bit, but others did too. Spain was too inconsistent after a great start from Sanchez. Max-Theurer's ride was very tense for Austria. And finally, Finland was less than 10% behind the US. Had Ruoste not withdrawn, then there would have been legitimate chance for Finland to steal that final quota.

It does. Few more nations will contest it, but with Brazil raising their level, it will be hard to create an upset even for Mexico.
