The stadium is half-empty. I really hope IAAF is proud of the money they got for this shit. This will be the worst World Champs for decades to come by far.

In this world, only death and taxes are certain, and that the IAAF will organize a championship in a country that has as much in common with athletics as bald with a comb.

2021 should be much better, but i don't know about 2023. Do hungarian people care about athletics?

Hungarians certainly have more to do with sport than their current host.

Sorry?

Based on your comments i have the suspicion that you are a bot. Please answer the following question: Should Trump be impeached in your opinion and why (not).

Thanks!

Hungary is bang in the center of Europe. Everyone and their mother will come there - probably even Germans too

I am not sure about german people travelling to Hungary. Hungary has a very bad reputation in Germany thanks to their racism and antisemitism. Many german fans will be afraid to go there + not many german people are crazy enough to travel halfway through europe to watch german athletes getting beaten by drug cheats from countries they never heard of before.

@TomJa don’t go down that route. This thread doesn’t need 45 more pages.

Education is really that completely useless in Germany?

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
