Alpine Skiing at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

As much as I personally like the combined (esp. compared to events like team parallel GS), how can it be contested at the Olympics with ZERO world cup combined competitions this year? It's practically non-existent these days.

FIS wants to kill off the combined event and doesn't even host it on the World Cup. They want to promote parallel events instead. IOC still keeps combined in the programme but I won't be surprised if it's axed after 2026 and makes way for the parallel event (which might be the most unfair event ever due to clear difference between courses as evident by last year's Alpine World Champs).

In alpine combined today are my favourites Pinturault, Schwarz and Innerhofer .... But at some point with this "strong competition".... Nearly anybody could medal today .... Dont forget what happened on the hill with the mixed event....

I feel like if the FIS were just a little smarter they would push to keep the combined *and* included the parallel event.

So Schwarz and Strolz are using downhill skis from Kilde and Mayer, respectively, because they don't have a pair of their own. What kind of utter bullshit is it that two athletes in the by far largest alpine skiing team in the world don't have a single pair of skis for 50% of an event in which they are hot medal favourites?!
