If you have steam, I’ve heard about something called “Tabletop Simulator.” I’m not really sure how it works though. I just know you can play board games online with your friends using it.

Yes, I'm intrigued by it, but I believe that there are only online modes (i.e., no single player versions of the games with AI opponents). While it would be easy to find someone to play the most famous games, my favorite game is Hanafuda Koi Koi (a Japanese card game), and I'm sure it would be extremely hard to find people interested in playing it. I bought a specific game on Steam named Koi Koi Japan, so I can play it against the computer and hopefully find some online matches too. It's quite fun and currently it's very cheap (I paid, like, 1.5 USD for the game and all DLCs).

What are your favorite board games, card games and trading card games? Are there traditional board/card games specific to your nation? Are there online options for one to learn how to play your favorite games? Are you a fan of Trading Card Games? Do you have any recommendations?

I'm an addict for those sweet western RPG graphics and art style, that's one of the reasons why I didn't get hooked on JRPGs throughout the years.

Well, the 90s were a rough time for realistic graphics, so I don't quite enjoy the aesthetics of Western RPGs of that time and I prefer the more cartoonish look of JRPGs. Skyrim was the first game that made me get into WRPGs because it finally had a fully realized world that was lifelike and believable. I also learned to like Baldur's Gate, too, bur I strongly dislike Fallout, for example. It's interesting that, in recent times, Dark Souls and Moster Hunter completely changed the landscape for JRPGs in the West since they look a lot like WRPGs and there's been sort of a JRPG renaissance after these titles. Still, Final Fantasy is my favorite series, but I have to say it's suffering from identity crisis; I didn't get into anything past FFXII, even though FFXV has a great battle system, but the characters put me off. I'm more and more stuck in retrogaming for the rest of my life, unless anything major changes my taste for games, which is highly unlikely.

If you enjoy RPGs, Dragon Age and Divinity: Original Sin 2 are probably the best that I played in my lifetime. I don't know how many hours I've sunk into both, not sure that I want to know either

Nice. I was not a big fan of Western RPGs until I played Skyrim. I'm more into JRPGs, though. Final Fantasy Tactics, Grandia, Paper Mario, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Persona 2 (yes, I'm oldschool).

I'm a fan of DF Retro, Sega Lord X and Game Sack, but I don't think retro gaming is what you're looking for.

My newest edition to the Steam library is Slay The Spire.

It gave me somewhat a bit of a feeling to Heroes III meets a card game. You advance through rooms, collect trinkets and battle through enemies and bosses weilding any of the four heroes and all of them have a different mechanic.

I'd say it has a lot of replayability value, def recommend. Somewhat similar to Civilization's "one more turn" just in this case it's always "one more run".

Yep, it's pretty nice. My boyfriend bought it and I sometimes play it on his accout. I'm a huge fan of RPGs, and I've been playing Darkest Dungeon, which is also very nice. I'm a sucker for very hard games, so it's right up my alley.

But I'm also a huge fan of retro titles and since I only have to go back to work on April 20th, I believe I'll finally try to complete Tactics Ogre. I plan to move back to Rio next week, but I have to sit back and wait for interstate buses to be allowed to operate again. Besides, I still have to sell my fridge and my bed before I move, so there's nowhere to go and it's mostly a waiting game at this point.

It's rather painful to buy games on release. I only ever do that if I can't contain myself with how much I want the game. And still, seeing a 50% off deal on Steam right now triggers me two and a half years later

Man, don't tell me about it. The last game I paid full price on release day was 428: Shibuya Scramble. I don't regret the decision, since it's a fantastic story, but it hurt seeing the game at half the price just 2 months later. Still, this is the best visual novel I've ever played, and the plot has to do with a life-threatening virus that could infect the whole world, so it would be quite interesting to replay it now.

Is there no way to go by regular car? I know going to Rio is still (or again) possible that way, at least yesterday it was. I believe there are signs banning bigger vehicles though (like buses)?

Edit: I guess if you're actually moving there it might be a bit of an (impossible) challenge to go with only a regular car..

I'll sell and donate everything I currently have, so moving to Rio will not be that hard because I'll only carry my clothes and two boxes full of books. The problem is I can't drive. There are bus tickets available from April 4th to April 19th, so I have a chance of making it on time. The biggest challenge will be selling my stuff during quarantine.

@thiago_simoes @vinipereira How's it going in the places you live? I'm hearing from your fellow Totallympian from Caraguatatuba that they are pretty much outright refusing to test people there unless they fit absolutely 100% of all possible criteria (and not even then, in some cases). Basically, people are getting sick, yet not even being tested if they fit the criteria, and then sent home..

The vast majority of people are at home since the public health system cannot cope with new infections and the private health system is a total disaster (they don't even test for covid-19 in most places). I'm worried about my health in the future because amidst all this crazy situation, the federal government greenlighted my transferal to Rio de Janeiro (almost one thousand kilometers from where I currently live) and I have to be there in 30 days. The problem (besides the pandemic, of course) is that state borders are currently closed and there's no way I can take a bus and go there. Even flights are being suspended. I'll go back to Rio so I can live with my mom, who is 70 and needs my help, and I just can't risk being infected because I could also infect her. I'll go crazy with all this.

Are you surprised at all? The Academy Awards were created by Americans to award American movies. In all seriousness, the Palme D'Or is the only award I respect (even though Spike Lee is the jury president this year and I dislike all of his movies).

It’s not really a superhero show though. To be fair, you’re giving an opinion to something you haven’t watched. While there are superhero elements, there is much more to the show. It makes statements on race, police brutality, questions if good guys are good, has awesome music, awesome action, and it’s arguably the best written show of all-time.

That's the point: they add a lot of important themes on a superhero show. I can't stand them. I will never buy into the illusion if there are superheroes. I'm confident it's a good show for those who want to watch it, but unfortunately I don't.

I'll move back to Rio in a couple of months, and this time I'll work in a military school. I guess I'll have a hard time not laughing at people there. It was the only feasible place for me to work in Rio now, though, at least for the time being.

You clearly haven’t watched the show by the way.

When I was your age I was a fan of the Spice Girls. Believe me: you will eventually regret many decisions. :wall::lol:

I haven't watched the show because I hate superhero movies and series. Seriously, I can't stand them. The only people in uniform I don't laugh at are athletes.

Good day being 'Bun di' in Romansh makes it already clear enough it's a Romance language by the way :d

It could be a loaned expression too. I know it's considered a Romance language, but many langues take loan words as if there's no tomorrow, like Japanese, for example: iyaringu (ear ring), aisukuriimu (ice cream), both from English; arubaito (arbeit) from German; pan (pão), sarada (salada), both from Portuguese; resutoran (restaurant) from French.

Much like Portuguese speakers from Portugal to me sound very weird, but that's just because I'm so used to Brazilian Portuguese :p

As a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker, I can hardly understand anything Portuguese people say. Whenever there's someone speaking Portuguese on TV with the European Portuguese accent, the shows use captions for us to read. It's hilarious.

Now, about Latin American Spanish, I believe it's fairly easy for us Brazilians to understand the accents from Peru and Mexico, and not too hard to understand accents from Paraguay and Bolivia. Argentinian Spanish in theory should not be too hard if they speak slowly and don't use slangs. Chilean Spanish is damn near impossible to understand, though, and Uruguayan Spanish is not so far behind.

Just a direct response to a question of whether the jews should've been sent back to germany during world war 2

So, Jews can be victims but not Mexicans or Salvadorians?

Do you have any idea how devoid of hope one must be in order to abandon his or her home, risk being killed, imprisoned, being separated from their families, put their lives on the hands of criminals only to cross the border and live in a new country? Can you imagine what kind of desperation would force people to do this? It could mean that they have no time left to patiently wait for their cry for help to be heard. If they wait, they can be murdered, evicted from their homes, their kids can join gangs and God knows what else could happen.
