So, last week's championships were used as the qualifier instead of next year's? If so, I'll add the quotas later on :d

I'm confused. First they say it is the top 7 (+1 host) athletes for each gender of the LAST Pan Am Wakeboard Championship in the Open division.

Then in the table of events, it clearly says top 2 of the 2017 championships and top 5 (LCQ) of the 2018 championships :mumble:

Open Water Swimming

:ARG +4

:BRA +4

:ECU +3

:PER +2

:VEN +2

:CHI +1

Peruvian male swimmer actually ended 12th at the qualification event, but was awarded the eighth slot (host nation). Colombia, Uruguay and Bolivia failed to qualify an athlete.

what's the qualification rule in Artistic Gymnastics ? they finished the Pommel Horse competition but the PDF document says we will know the finalists after the end of all qualification events !! I assume there is something like one gymnast can't qualify for more 2-3 finals, right ?

btw surprisingly for me. our gymnast finished 5th in Pommel Horse so I assume no matter what he will be in the final. huge surprise for me !

It's probably the same rule of the previous YOG. A gymnast MUST compete in all apparatus in order to qualify for any final. So if your gymnast somehow doesn't start in one of the other apparatus, he won't qualify for the final in Pommel Horse. Crazy, I know...

The ugly: the camera angles were annoying, the whole "this guy, olympian, one bronze medal" thing was annoying, the pillow fight when athletes were marching in made no sense at all, the Olympic cauldron looked like an urinal.

4 days to go...

There is almost no interest from the media in this games however all olympic passes available (a little more than 600,000) have already been distributed. So, probably we will see games with little media impact but with full venues for every event.

The venues are mostly shitty because they aren't real stadiums, just training centres which they added temporary stands to (and the only real indoor stadium for 10K people in the area of olympic park will be used for... storage...).

The opening ceremony will be pathetic and isn't worth my time (I don't care about ceremonies anyway) and I don't want to talk about the closing ceremony not being held because organization ran out of budget...

I just hope the park will be good when I go there and that the queues for the popular events aren't too insane, my expectations are low.

You're so pessimistic lol

From the images I see, most of the venues look good, even beautiful! In some cases the city does all the work . Also, the opening ceremony was a great idea for this particular event and I'm sad I won't be able to be there (that's why I'm also sad about the closing ceremony not being held, but it isn't a great loss). Anyway, I have good expectations for the one week I'm gonna stay in BA.

If Canada and USA are confirmed qualifiers in the DR, that means Brazil can't qualify for Lima 2019. However, I am not sure on this one.

I still think Brazil has one chance do qualify female athletes because they didn't participate at the South American Games. So they probably chose this and the "PABCON Champion of Champions" as qualifying competitions :mumble:
