  1. I think has a much better team now than in 2019, including A team in most sports. Of course there's Athletics, but that's a sport in which Brazil sucks even with the A team.
  2. currently in qualifying position but a lot of teams yet to come. I would say that all teams behind are not safe. all have a chance to qualify.

  6. That's that main thing. Brazil had 8 wins combining South American Championships and the first 4 matches of the qualifiers, which counted for only +8.6 points since all teams placed lower than Brazil in the ranking. And then a single loss for Turkey yesterday costed -7.2. So If wins against better placed teams, maybe they have a chance.

  10. Less than one month to go, should we do some medal table predictions? As usual, USA is too far ahead of the field, with Canada and Brazil fighting for second. From what I've seen, Canada has a very strong team in many sports. Of course a reduced Athletics team can hurt their medal tally, but Brazil isn't that strong in this sport even with most of their best athletes. Given recent results in the Central American Games, I think Mexico has the edge over Colombia. Mexico was top 3 in Lima 2019 and definitely have the potential to be top 5 again. Argentina is the one nation that I think that could spoil this top 5 (they were 5th in 2019), especially ahead of Colombia - which won more medals last year at the South American Games. Once a top sports nation, Cuba is declining in recent multi-sport competitions, but still could make top 7. Wouldn't be that surprising if Chile got a massive home advantage and got better than 8th (which is the same result they had in 2019). For 9th/10th, Ecuador and Venezuela are too close. Dominican Republic could finish ahead of both, though, just like it did in 2019. A former top 10 in their home Games, I don't think Peru will repeat the feat this time. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

  12. Same with group B, where vs will decide the second quota - unless Brazil can't win vs. or Japan somehow surprises . Group A is definitely the most interesting.
  13. Time is announcing some names for the Games. In Athletics, we're going with 67 athletes, including world medalist Caio Bonfim and world indoor champion Darlan Romani (no Alison dos Santos). In Tennis, Thiago Monteiro, Marcelo Demoliner and Gustavo Heider (Men's) and Olympic medalists Laura Pigossi and Luisa Stefani + Carolina Meligeni (Women's). The best ranked brazilians (Bia Haddad Maia and Thiago Wild) will not participate. Judo will have 19 athletes, including Olympic medalists Daniel Cargnin, Rafael Silva, Rafaela Silva and Ketleyn Quadros. Boxing will have 13 names including Olympic medalists Beatriz Ferreira and Abner Teixeira. Brazil is also bringing their best in Equestrian and Table Tennis - which will have Bruna Alexandre as the first brazilian athlete to compete in both the Pan American Games and Para Pan in the same year. Many teams have also been announced, and most of them (Basketball, Football, Volleyball) have athletes that play only in brazilian clubs. So I expect some competitive teams but Brazil isn't the favourite for any team sport gold.

  17. Sure, but it's my understanding that would have faced in the women's semifinal, and that would have been terrible for us
  18. Quota goes to actually. Of the three teams with one win (the others being and ) they had the best match difference. Don't know how Chile lost so easily to Puerto Rico, and then today gave a hard time to both Brazil and Canada. They're coming for multiple medals at the Pan Am Games, I think...
