  1. will host the 2025 Central American and Caribbean Beach Games (not sure if this was posted before).
  2. He'e guy who had to compete for after qualifying for the Pan American Games.
  3. For those interested, this outlet generally keeps tabs on LGBTQ+ athletes at the Olympics: https://www.outsports.com/2021/7/12/22565574/tokyo-summer-olympics-lgbtq-gay-athletes-list/
  4. Yeah, following the results using the results system has been a nightmare The federation websites have been a bit better in my opinion.
  5. I'm sure it won't happen, but it would be nice if this result could convince organizers to let have a go at the top division of the Asian Winter Games next year.
  6. I was hoping could get a quota on the women's side
  7. Whelp, I was let down quickly
  8. Plus, it does seem like they host regular events at a few of the venues.
  9. I just hope they keep streaming, since they didn’t really broadcast much internationally over the weekend.
  10. A little LA-Paris connection for Paris 2024.
  11. PanamSports may have wanted Paraguay to keep their focus on the 2025 Junior Pan American Games as well. I can definitely see that being a cosideration at least.
  12. They have an athlete who may be able to get a quota in the women's 400m hurdles. In that case, I'd assume they'd use the invitation to send a male athlete.
  13. Lima isn't without risks given the politcal instability of the last few years, but if they have done some upkeep on the venues, you'd hope infrastructure costs will be low. Also, assuming most of the venues are still viable, it will be interesting to see what they do with the sports program.
  14. also won their first gold medal at the winter deaflympics in men's team classic chess event
  15. won the Asian derby for the gold medal in men's futsal. I believe this is their first gold medal (or possibly a medal of any color) at the Winter Deaflympics.
  16. Some interesting extracurricular drama in the v. women's futsal match. There was seemingly an incident between supporters in stands, but it's hard to figure out what happened since the broadcast has no commentary or raw audio. The Brazilian supporters seemed to complain about someone making a racist gesture or something similar based the their fury (and the gesture they kept doing). Anyway, that stopped the match dead for a minutes while it was sorted out. eventually won a very contested match, even after lsoing a player to a red card (second yellow given after a very poor sideline challenge) with just under nine minutes to go in the second half. They even increased their lead while playing down a player. I only watched the broadcast towards the end, but I might have to check out the rest of the match at some point.
  17. Something to lookout for maybe
  18. It definitely wasn't my favorite, but there wasn't really a standout in the category either, in my opinion. The Zone of Interest would probably be my personal pick.
  19. I did complie a list of films I watched in 2023. You can find my thoughts and ratings for most of them here: https://boxd.it/ti5Xg$WfClDvILULgq0r9T
  20. Oppenheimer is one of those films where I can’t really find a fault with it (at least any substantial one). It’s just a well-made film through and through, in my opinion. I didn’t captivate me as much or touch my soul to the same degree as Past Lives, but I can respect it‘s win. There really aren’t any winners I totally disagree with outside of War is Over! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko in animated short.
  21. Oppenheimer takes the big prize. It was expected, and a good choice in my opinion.
  22. Dann, I really wanted Poor Things to win score. I’ve been listening to it pretty regularly for the last two months. Oppenheimer did have a good score too though.
  23. I thought it was fun. It was great movie to go out and see with my friends and family. I do think it honestly injected some life back into the film scene in the US.
