  1. Quite a lot of these have already been added, but not all, so thanks
  2. Oh, oh, oh! This may be somewhat controversial in the current geopolitical world, but fuck it: we NEED to have the awesome tank biathlon This may certainly be that sport where you do really want to avoid certain match-ups, but that's a secondary concern. On the other hand, it's tank biathlon, go play some children's game like kickboxing or "jumping from a 6 meter wall" if you don't want to get hurt. God, there are just so many options when actually searching for them. We are really going to need that 4th major event of which the name isn't yet sure.
  3. Pole sports! They even had a tiny attempt once to get in the Olympics, who knows, the Global Games may be a first step towards the World Games. I'd also except CrossFit, it's been a thing for years now, so why not. Not my thing, but it certainly has a longstanding competitive tradition: bodybuilding. It might be a serious logistical challenge, so not sure elephant polo would be a good addition. Maybe if it's in an elephant-rich environment, don't know.
  4. Wow, I was not expecting to learn that, thought it was...well, just a name. Cool
  5. I'll gladly add timber sports as well, that is cool. Underwater hockey and/or rugby will feature for sure, as will chase tag Maybe we can add lethwei and kurash or belt wrestling for the combat sports. If the program truly gets too full, we'll either extend by a week or find sponsors for the World Open Games/Universal Games.
  6. Hold on a minute....is the Tamburello turn on the Imola race track (the one where Ayrton Senna sadly died) named after this 'tamburello'? If so, consider my mind well and truly blown.
  7. Tchoukball We did that at school sometimes, everyone sucked balls at it but it certainly was fun I see plenty of cool options here for the Global Games, we're going to have an actually massive event! Keep the additions and such coming, now all we need is the money, someone with organizational skills, people to cooperate with, a host city or region and a time frame that fits for all sports, so we are halfway there at least.
  8. This reminds me of something, two things actually! I really want actual polo (the one with horses where I believe Argentina is amazing, at least when Eurosport still showed it) and also...cycleball Yes, based on a Google search cycleball is different than cycle polo, so there we go.
  9. I don't know how I forgot it, but I am certainly adding cyclo-cross! Doesn't need any specific kind of track, it's all fine: mud, grass, bone dry sand, snow, ice, whatever, it's all fine Keeping it simple: men's and women's race, no relays. Plus, mountain bike trial is pretty impressive, they can be part of this as well.
  10. Futnet, that's long ago I heard about that! I believe Eurosport sometimes showed that for a bit and I remember it was fun to watch Kind of a sort of sepak takraw meets foot volley, I think? This way we can almost come up with a whole new category specifically for kicking various sizes of balls over various forms of nets
  11. Hmm, not sure how teqball got added under Racket & Paddle, I noticed now. That'll be corrected
  12. My own first addition is clear, and I don't know why it wasn't added originally: kabaddi should absolutely be in the Global Games. I think it should be part of Combat & Strength rather than Ball & Team, but that is perfectly fine to be debated, as long as it gets added.
  13. So, the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2025 World Games are over, now what? Of course the Winter Olympics are nearing, but that doesn't help summer sports. We've got two of these, so far: the Olympics, unsurprisingly only having Olympic sports on the program, and the World Games, known as 'kind of the Olympics but with non-Olympic sports'. Super cool, but...there are certainly more sports! Say we at Totallympics were billionaires, and had the opportunity to create and organize new big events. What everyone has been missing for years in the world of sports is, of course, a global multi-sports event for non-Olympic and non-World Games sports. This is where we find them, the very first Global Games (name under construction, suggestions are still welcome). Since I personally have the creativity of a pile of dead leafs, I asked ChatGPT to come up with a sports program, which it neatly grouped together in a few main categories. There is, however, lots of room for change, suggestions and additions (not removals, we've got space in the program, it will be three weeks if need be, so for now, let's just add things). Keep in mind in the Olympic Games we already have small sports (think modern pentathlon), in the World Games we have sports most people around the world likely have never even heard of (tug-of-war, MotoSurf, korfball, to name a few), so in the Global Games we absolutely can have very small sports. If they have some international following and participation, that would absolutely be a pro, but it is certainly not a condition. Anyhow, here is the very first set-up for the sports program. I'm not necessarily a fan of every single addition there, but hey, it's the Global Games, we don't need to all love everything, every sport that wants to is welcome and there's always gonna be some people enjoying it
  14. But make it kyokushin karate, so it's really about fighting as hard as you can (like any combat sport should be at the highest multi-sport event level).
  15. Nah, those might be too difficult for me I came across some channels and such about isopods and got absolutely fascinated, now I want to try it out
  16. Never really had a pet, but got myself something today in preparation for my first 'pets' Now to receive it and then prepare it my guests
  17. This is like a bad break-up or a death of someone close or something. You know, you're doing fine at some point after a while, but then you hear or see the name or have some sudden memory, and your heart breaks again. That's sort of what it is with the 50k race walk at a major global sports event, I miss it, badly
  18. Flying disk? Will we get separate medal events for 4TB and 8TB disks?
  19. Disclaimer: I'm not really going for things like "how easily would it fit in the program in terms of number of athletes" and "do enough countries win medals" and stuff like that, just going by what I have seen and what my personal opinions are Artistic & Dance Sports I absolutely want to see tumbling in the Olympics, out of all the sports and events here, that is by far my number one wish. I would also certainly be fine with the double mini-trampoline. Ball Sports I've always found canoe polo quite cool to watch, plys it is a very different thing than anything else. Lacrosse was also quite nice, wouldn't mind if that stays in the Olympics. Martial Arts The (combat) sambo was interesting and often brought some exciting moments, so did the wushu (sanda) and the K1 kickboxing. Not really sure if it was enough for me to add another combat sport, but if so, I'd probably go for sambo. Precision Sports I had hoped to go for field archery, but I thought it was more of a 'run around and shoot targets' kind of thing, so was somewhat disappointed. No to the billiards for me and the boules....alright, the lyonnaise progressive and the precision shooting were pretty enjoyable, but I think not really enough to want to see it at the Olympics. Strength Sports As I've already said for years: I want tug-of-war to become Olympic and become a big deal, that'd be awesome. Great teamwork, pure technique and strength, really different than any other sport, it was all the ingredients for me. Trend Sports Dragon boat racing was fun enough to watch, I especially liked the beating of the drums. Finswimming, absolutely, as long as the camera work is good, it is nice and exciting to watch. The freediving too (but one of the two disciplines, having both is unncessary), super nice but tense slow-TV. Inline track speed skating would be nice as a summer equivalent of shorttrack, kind of, although I fear it would be bad for our beloved speed skating (you know, on ice). Life saving was nice too, I would be fine with ultimate disc (as long as American football isn't on there, should be one or the other, the one with a ball or the one with a disc).
  20. @hckošice What's up in Czechoslowakia, judging by the and strength, do y'all motosurf to school every day or something?
  21. Right, the inline freestyle slalom can't really hold my attention for more than a few minutes since I just don't know what is and isn't good, but I'll definitely say that, as someone who skated a lot as a kid (not with tricks though), it is impressive to see
  22. Oh wow, the buzzer beater from a huge distance that brought Taiwan the beach korfball gold Although I feel like "That is a classic all-time sporting great moment, for any sport." might be slightly overstated by the commentator, 99,9% of Dutch people won't ever see this, I highly doubt that percentage will be much different outside of the world's main korfball country. The guy who made the winning shot being 'a national hero' now is probably also a slight overstatement Too bad though, because it absolutely was, indeed, awesome.
  23. This is Bolivia's first ever World Games gold, correct? As well as only their second medal ever, I believe, after one earlier bronze. Such a shame Barrios got injured, they might have gone from 1 bronze ever to getting triple medals (triple gold not out of the question) here.
  24. Just watched and wow, Visser That 12,28 makes her the 4th-fastest European ever and the fastest European since the very early 90's
