  1. Polish former ski jumper Mateusz Rutkowski, 2004 junior world champion, has died, aged 37. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mateusz_Rutkowski Only 11 World Cup starts in his career, which already ended in 2006. I'm sure our Polish users have heard more about it, but according to Wikipedia there had been tons of problems with alcohol, weight issues and such. Sounds tragic
  2. Again? Also: Swiss women's team pursuit medal is awesome, just like Odor sprinting to silver (although that was slightly helped by a bad fall with Hoolwerf and the two French)
  3. Jules Lapierre beats out Moch in the fight for the stage win, both of them had only one previous World Cup podium (for both of them that was a 3rd place on this very stage, Moch in 2022 and Lapierre in 2023). Lapalus 3rd, Vermeulen 4th and Amundsen in 5th and overall winner, while Moch moved up to 2nd. Awesome final stage, as always, Alpe Cermis
  4. How I love the legal torture method called Alpe Cermis Mika Vermeulen (well, , officially) torturing the rest, damn. Moch has taken over though.
  5. Well, someone can buy it or not, isn't it at least simply logical to investigate things, when there are signs of bribes? The fact that there's an investigation doesn't mean anyone says it's proven, that's exactly why it's investigated. If there's signs of foul play, small or big, anywhere in life...an investigation is only logical to find out what happened
  6. There is an investigation going on though, and when there are clear signs that one of the head honchos of PSG is basically bribing the people who decide the Ballon d'Or winner, that is definitely worth an investigation, whether or not the global public wanted Messi to win.
  7. Fraud investigation going on around (among other things) the very, very questionable 2021 Ballon d'Or for Messi. https://www.essentiallysports.com/soccer-football-news-psg-reportedly-lobbied-for-lionel-messi-ballon-dor-win-amid-ongoing-legal-investigation/
  8. Super veteran Tarjei of all people was too late for the exchange
  9. At least now it's actually wintery
  10. -7 and strong wind in Oberhof, the men's lottery relay is about to start
  11. Right, it's still available on desktop at least, searching for that app led me to an actual website: https://eurovisionsport.com/ Seems like they renewed their website, they clearly don't understand the philosophy of not fixing something that's not broken, but alright. Too bad they kind of broke something that wasn't broken, since the player on that website doesn't even have the most basic hotkey functions (like Space for pause and the arrows to go forward or backward)
  12. Right, but surely it's still available online as well instead of only as yet another app? I don't mind about the World Cup, I've got regular TV and Eurosport and such to watch that as I've always done, but having to watch IBU Cup suddenly on a small mobile screen with some app (taking up yet more space) instead of on an excellently working website.....
  13. Anyone have any idea what happened to this page? At first I thought maybe it was just that the IBU Cup in Martell wasn't being shown there, but now I noticed this week's World Cup also isn't available there, which I believe usually it is. https://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/
  14. This was once again fantastic, the men's 5k is arguably the number one highlight of speed skating at this moment World record is in serious danger later this season.
  15. @hckošice Nice win for Bruno Mick against a whole bunch of excellent German (and other) talents https://www.fil-luge.org/cdn/uploads/2024-01-06-12-00-cc-herren.pdf
  16. It's not a bad , but more like a "huh, cool " kind of reaction, I was surprised. Always nice to learn a little about our fellow Totallympians
  17. Whoever organizes it can use whichever name they want, more or less. Just like the MLB has, ridiculously enough, a (basically) national championship final that's actually called and marketed as 'World Series'. Which basically everyone outside of the US agrees with is just nonsense, but also...why care? I am definitely in favour of having a few North American stops every now and then (not every season, since it's just too small for that), and in cross-country skiing perhaps even every season assuming the hype about Minneapolis lives up to the expectations. As for Asia....yeah, that's going to be difficult. It'd be good to go there sometimes, but biathlon is just entirely empty there (the horror Pyeongchang world championships are still in mind), maybe cross-country skiing would attract at least something if they go there once every few years.
  18. Yeah I always forget that For context: on the main Dutch forum, the thread about the PDC world championships, which started halfway in November, ended up with a little over 31.000 posts....and that's taking into account darts is now on a pay-channel which requires watching it on a website or on an app, instead of a regular TV channel like it was for many, many years. When it was still on the regular TV channel, it'd get to 50-60 thousand posts in 6 weeks or so
  19. Yeah, Littler had been playing a lot last year as well (way more than he will this year, presumably), with several matches in for example the MODUS Super Series ending in wins with averages of 110+. If memory serves me right, he destroyed Lakeside champion Andy Baetens with a 118 point average. Sure, that was a relatively short match, but those numbers are rare, to say the least. I honestly doubt there's any major North Americans in the next few years, unfortunately, it's just often the same names and they never really break through. Same for most Asians, much as I'd like to see that change.
  20. Women's stage 6 is underway, conditions are such a mess with lots of snow and/or rain falling
  21. Huh, you have kids I've wondered before how many parents we have on Totallympics, the only one I'm sure about is @konig because he announced that last (?) year
  22. 13:17.53 for Jordan Stolz in the US championships just now. Which, for those who aren't really into speed skating and times and such, is absolutely and utterly bizarre given the fact he is also able to skate a very low 34 second 500m. That range is astonishing beyond words.
  23. Hey, nice, a random video with a sort of satirical title. The funnier (or sadder) thing is that there actually are people who don't see this for what it is, nothing, but who actually are so Facebook-brainwashed that they genuinely believe this is some sort of 'proof' of some 'massive conspiracy' or something
  24. Considering it's the Youth Olympics, so presumably the largest youth sports event in the world, I'd definitely assume reasonable coverage of most, if not all sports...? Because if not, why would any athlete really care if they can't show themselves anyway?
  25. The testimonies however were not "all these people who are named, abused people". One definitely has be to somewhat cautious, but in today's social media age, of course everyone who is mentioned at all will be condemned online..
