  1. Sprinter Fred Kerley failed what is usually a simple IQ test. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/aug/12/fred-kerley-provisional-suspension-whereabouts-failures
  2. It is so odd indeed. Also very different between sports, something like swimming had excellent graphics for example (they're not complicated, sure, but neither should those for inline skating be). Tug of war is also still just beyond me: every single pool match one by one, and then the two semis exactly together so one of them is simply ignored entirely.
  3. Well, that inline skating points race is just utterly unwatchable unless you're keeping your own count of the points...not even some basic graphics with the standings..
  4. won the korfball final
  5. I like when commentators make a mistake, acknowledge their mistake, and correct it. No problem at all, it happens. Watching yesterday's fin swimming, 50m apnoea....the lady said the winner broke the world record (with a time of 13.74 despite the WR, shown on-screen, being 13.70), when in fact it clearly said 'WG' - World Games record. Her co-commentator, I believe a guy from CMAS, mentioned that not once, but twice ("it's a World Games record"), but even after that, said lady just kept going on about it being a WR, talking about when the 'old' WR was said, and so on She's not just unprepared and not at all paying attention, she's not even listening to her co-commentator. I wonder if she's the same generic commentator who did dragon boat racing and made a mess of that. Edit: at least after that she was correct in announcing the world record for the German Nandor Kiss.
  6. Didn't tune in yet, but keep in mind this isn't the 'big' kickboxing like you see in Glory or something, I presume it is more like a watered-down version if I remember correctly from the last time
  7. Ah, and there's also ski orienteering then (not in the Olympics, but in existence)? Because I'm sure I have seen a few minutes once of a sport where athletes on skis had a map, but that wasn't really possible to follow who was doing well Ski mountaineering sounds a lot better to watch, thanks!
  8. How can ski mountaineering be compared with orienteering? Is it roughly like a winter version (kind of like speed skating vs inline skating, not the same, but similarities), or just an entirely different kind of format? Asking because I've never watched ski mountaineering and I sincerely hope it will be more watchable than the orienteering was here, where there were barely any split times shown, they kept randomly switching to people running in some spot and going back and so on. I think especially for a lesser known sport it is imperative to show it in such a way that new viewers can easily understand what's going on..
  9. Just caught up with the lacrosse, and while the final itself had no excitement whatsoever, I still gotta admit it is quite fun to watch, looking forward to LA
  10. Lacrosse? Can't wait to watcht that after work, and have the English commentators go absolutely mad in yelling 'apologies for any language, apologies for the language, apologies for any language!!!' That is always cute when they scramble over each other to say that as quickly as possible.
  11. Watching the U19 worlds of yesterday....can anyone tell me where the finish line actually is? They stopped rowing in this general area, but...I don't see it Love the Trakai location by the way, not some boring rectangle thing, but passing close by the trees and grassy islands on the like, very pretty.
  12. Looks like the play-back/rewind/whateveryoucallit option in the live videos has for some reason been taken away again. Noticed it yesterday already, but now as well: just wanted to tune in to the tug-of-war, from the beginning of course, but I guess I'll have to wait until the entire event finished and is available on-demand to start watching (fine, since I'm leaving for the office in a bit anyway so except for this early morning I can't really watch until the day in China is well and truly over)
  13. Too bad. Hopefully someone can take the title in 2029
  14. Holy moly that last Chinese swimmer was absolutely motoring
  15. That time, but minus 6 seconds
  16. Nandor Kiss with an insane WR on the 400m surface. Two seconds in a sub-3 minute event is insane.
  17. Yeah the way she pronounced Myanmar already annoyed me yesterday as well As for the pursuit: she didn't know the rules but also, to be fair, the way they showed it made it incredibly shitty to follow the race. Like, how can you have a time trial format race with basically no split times at all and nothing but a final result afterwards?
  18. Only silver for Szabo, because apparently, "he didn't want it enough".
  19. Not only that, he also competed in the life saving
  20. Szebasztian Szabo, another world and especially European regular swimming medalist taking into the water with fins.
  21. 100m surface might be one of the coolest swimming events there is, awesome how they just fly through the water (and much nicer to watch than the one that is entirely under water)
  22. The freediving can't seriously be anywhere near ok in terms of health?! One after the other is outright blacking out or just shaking like crazy after surfacing, how do they make combat athletes wear headgear to protect them, yet letting athletes deprive themselves of oxygen to the point of blacking out and causing possible brain damage is absolutely fine? Don't get me wrong, it's impressive, obviously..
  23. Just noticed now that the softball, despite there being no competition on 11 and 12 August, has been entirely cancelled instead of postponed Double gold medal, meaning nobody can call themselves 'the 2025 World Games champion'. https://www.wbsc.org/en/events/2025-the-world-games-womens-softball/news/the-world-games-mens-softball-medal-game-day-5-blog
  24. Women's tug of war was awesome today, such an absolutely soaked field, stomping in the mud all the way
  25. Ugh, all the ne-waza jiu-jitsu semis are being done on tatami 2, the one being shown, meaning that every single one of the fighting semis - which are on tatami 1 - is being ignored on the stream Saves some time, I suppose.
