Qualification Tracker

  1. Not really sure what makes the speed climbing 4 format so different. I mean, there's 4 athletes on the wall instead of 2....that's it. The entire format and process is exactly the same, except....there are two more athletes on the wall. All it really seems to be is simply a potential way to make qualifying go twice as fast. It's like swimming has a 100m freestyle with 8 lanes, and a separate event in an extra wide pool where the 100m freestyle has 16 lanes. Don't get me wrong, I like speed climbing so I'll gladly watch, but I'm really confused about what they were thinking this would actually add
  2. Luckily most sports will have their own Dutch commentator here, who generally don't mention the full names all the time, but I can certainly imagine those generic English commentators constantly talking about the DQS Solutions & Staffing Mountain Bike Track Powered by Precision Vehicle Logistics every time they mention the track, and so on, that makes for such an annoying viewing experience But sure, as long as the names aren't really mentioned anyway....yeah, not so bad I guess. Still tragically American though, and it kinda feels like the next step towards also the Olympics simply being one of those events where the entire venue, background and every single piece of equipment is absolutely plastered over with sponsor names instead of what you usually see nowadays (large things basically just showing "CITY - YEAR" or something).
  3. But teqball is so much less fun to watch They should just abandon the Olympic thing, that isn't gonna happen, because just like korfball or something it is simply way too small and it isn't gonna grow big. Accept that, and realize the World Games are a perfect place for lots of tiny and obscure sports most people have never even heard of. But yeah, if they don't accept that, it isn't gonna look good unfortunately.
  4. This is just so tragically American. https://www.latimes.com/sports/olympics/story/2025-08-14/la-2028-olympics-will-be-first-to-offer-venue-naming-rights? We'll get, what, the Walmart Aquatics Stadium and the Coca-Cola Canoe Slalom Track or something?
  5. Next on the list of commentary fails is the duathlon of today: "Varo just choosing to sit on the shoulder of Alvarez", in the last 50 meters, where Varo was absolutely dying behind Alvarez and incredibly clearly was just being sprinted out of it instead of choosing anything Not surprisingly, I believe it is once again the same generic English commentator lady who is the producer of most of the fails and mistakes on the commentary list for Chengdu 2025
  6. Sepak takraw and kabaddi, two awesome sports that could so easily have been part of the World Games
  7. with an excellent job winning the group in women's canoe polo. That means they are basically straight into the semi's, since in the quarter finals they meet China, which scored exactly one goal in the entire group stage and received a whopping 62 goals It was 12-0 at halftime, so yeah, might not become very close
  8. Well, those sambo team competitions were one big flop Most of the quarter finals cancelled, most of the fights in the medal matches didn't even happen due to injuries so we got like a 1-fight final
  9. Not bad at all!
  10. I have made a few changes, didn't fact check my list well enough so there were some mistakes it seemed Now it should all be correct. I will not post the events as of yet, but can give a bit of a hint: eight out of ten are from 2014 onwards, while none are either in the future or more than 20 years ago.
  11. I was just thinking about how insanely 'empty' the slogans and mottos of multi-sports events always are, and so, here's a list of 10 questions. In every one of them, one is a real slogan of a relatively recent event, the rest is...well, just as empty, but made up entirely. There are some very easy ones in there, but still, who gets the most? One point for guessing which one is a real slogan, two extra points if you name the event correctly. Answers in a spoiler, please
  12. It'd be nice if in the powerlifting they actually show the weights the athletes are attempting. I mean, I feel like that would add value to the viewing experience.
  13. I have, again, questions What's up with so many team sambo matches being cancelled today? Also, I knew sambo is heavily Russia-oriented, but I didn't know that like in wrestling everyone and their mom has gotten themselves a Dagestani to fight for them
  14. Oh, overlooked him then, my bad
  15. I saw only the qualifying results so far though and there seemed to be several missing names? For starters, I didn't see either world record holder (who are very much still active), I think?
  16. I wonder what the division is between sports where the best in the world compete and sports where they don't. Like, I know for certain korfball has the world's best at the Games. I don't know about floorball or inline hockey, but I guess it's the same there. Same in finswimming, I assume. While on the other hand, in for example kickboxing and muay thai, it is absolutely not the case. Most sports of course I have no idea about, so I am genuinely curious
  17. Just now noticed that 'road inline skating' isn't really what I thought it was, but just...well, a track...that happens to have a road-like surface I thought I was watching track inline skating the past two days, when they were skating on a track, turns out that was road. Roughly the same names in both I see, too bad there aren't really that interesting names from the world of speed skating - I've seen Fran Vanhoutte and Dan Guo and that's about it.
  18. I believe it is the same generic commentator that did dragon boat racing and the other sport where she messed up all kinds of basic things It is unfortunate, kinda takes away some of the pleasure of watching when there's a commentator who has clearly just not prepared and isn't even aware of basic things like country codes (and not even tiny countries, KAZ and KSA, come on, when in doubt just look it up).
  19. "The Kazakhstani athlete" in the duathlon. Large "KSA" and a very Arab sounding name on his back.
  20. And Chile?
  21. As is easily visible when watching the names of the players
  22. Certainly not, I'm just happy to see them get some wins
  23. Cool to see racquetball has started, the extremely rare time for arguably the outright worst country in the world of sports to shine
  24. Wushu commentary is just outright special They refuse to name any fighter during the fight, everyone is just relegated to "the blue corner" or "the red corner" (as in, "nice left kick from red corner", "good high kick from blue corner!") and sometimes "Iran/China/Vietnam wins" just to not have to name the fighter There's also quite a "everyone is a winner" vibe. "Congratulations to both finalists!", although one is obviously rather disappointed The action itself is definitely nice though, I think my favourite combat sport of these World Games. Edit: I mean, come on. "The mouth piece came out of the mouth of red corner, because of the side kick of blue corner." The athletes must remain anonymous, is the thought behind this, I think?
  25. Yeah, but then at least find a way to show it nicely. Now literally every single pool match, even an insignificant one at the end, got full attention all the time, and then when things get serious, half the teams fighting for the medals are just pushed aside. At the very, very least put their score in the graphics too or something.
