  1. Rules say the referee needs to see it with the naked eye though. Once those rules are changed (sensors in the shoes, cameras, whatnot), the athletes will adapt to that.
  2. Already had the penalty box in Doha
  3. As always, race walk live timing sucks balls, not showing the penalties at all.
  4. This is just miserable for Korkmaz
  5. Kumar pushing the boundaries of the rules to stay with Wang.
  6. Van Schip refusing to lap the peloton lap after lap, gaining a point lap after lap
  7. Korkmaz trying to shake out some early cramp aaaaaand
  8. Van Riessen lost consciousness for a bit, but did regain it and was awake and alert when being brought to the hospital.
  9. Race walk Let's see if Eiki Takahashi manages to be super fast early in the year again and then have a total fail at a major event again like literally every time.
  10. And the reputation was already horrible after Cavendish somehow wasn't DQ'ed in Rio.
  11. Lavreysen vs Kenny in the QF
  12. Huh, three quarterfinals where the top-4 qualifies apparently makes 12 riders, not 9. I blame a lack of sleep!
  13. Now we'll get a repechage heat where 4 out of 5 will qualify, as if the keirin repechages weren't a tad too much already.
  14. Lee Wai Sze bowling opponents out of the race Edit: 'bowling' is a bit exaggerated, but her movements - for the whole race basically - did start the whole mess. Besides all that, Marchant being the 100% victim here
  15. True as those two statements may be in a separate environment, it does indeed show his lack of general knowledge about the event
  16. Only among people who have no clue about athletics and sports in general. I'd say she can safely ignore those people..
  17. Because usually the gaps are quite significant, like is the case for gold/silver now. Not for bronze, at all.
  18. Belgian commentator assumed it was a blown tyre If that's the sound of blown tyres, count me out of ever going to a track cycling event
  19. Rio 2016 format was quite alright though. It is presented as a sort of allround event, and it is the complete opposite of that. We don't need four peloton events, there should be some individual stuff and some sprint stuff as well. Individual sprint event (like the 1km time trial) Individual endurance event (like the IP) Peloton sprint event (keirin is too dangerous, so let's say elimination race) Peloton endurance event (points race) That already would be better than: 1. Peloton endurance event 2. Peloton endurance event with a few sort-of sprints 3. Peloton endurance event with more sort-of sprints 4. Peloton endurance event
  20. It's nonsense that they mean absolutely nothing. It means enough to say that Vetter is very unlikely to beat Thiam, whereas if Vidts was in Vetter's position, you could definitely expect a hard fight for gold. Barely anybody is suddenly going to break their PB by 5+ seconds.
  21. No, but it's an interesting stat nonetheless
  22. Right, the omnium has been absolutely beheaded in the past few years and is now just another endurance party which is the complete opposite of what the word 'omnium' suggests, but alright. Going to watch anyway, of course
  23. Athlete Current points 800m difference 800m PB Thiam 5912 2:15,24 Vetter 5848 +4,3 2:17,71 Williams 5642 +18,7 2:15,31 Oosterwegel 5641 +18,7 2:12,68 Vidts 5592 +22,1 2:09,34 Kunz 5540 +25,3 2:14,90 Schäfer 5524 +26,3 2:14,10 Plus or minus 2-3 tenths here and there because the exact differences also depend on simply how fast the times are instead of the differences in seconds. Also keeping in mind Williams doesn't seem to be in great shape, Oosterwegel is excellent and especially Vidts has been improving left and right and seems to be in fantastic running shape. Definitely my main pick for bronze.
  24. Mayer needs to get close to 6 meters to have any remote chance left with a normal javelin and 1500m from Warner
