  1. And with this, we've also reached the end of the RS:X era, which has been fairly succesful for the Dutch men and training buddies and close friends Van Rijsselberghe/Badloe On to foiling.
  2. 2. Goyard (FRA) 74 3. Bi (CHI) 75 4. Cohen (ISR) 76 5. Camboni (ITA) 76
  3. Meanwhile there's still a ton of discussion going on about video of the start of the 7th Laser Radial race, which the organization outright refuses to publish (they do of course have it). Bouwmeester got DQ'ed for a false start there, but apparently the actual video footage shows that that's a highly controversial decision.
  4. Although Goyard is still in silver position.
  5. Which also means the gold for Badloe now, since even with a DQ he can't be overtaken anymore.
  6. And the French guy out That's the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place out..
  7. Oh damn, the old and experienced Myszka was in pole position for bronze because of Camboni's mistake....and gets a penalty for a false start himself
  8. Wow, Camboni gave away a medal by making a false start
  9. That seems a little unfair. I've seen several other Brazilians and they were definitely fighting for it. It can be a lack of quality, mistakes being made, bad luck, bad shape or a combination of all that, but that's all something different than not fighting for it and I really doubt they were actually thinking "Ah I'll try but never mind"... Although I do see the same here in the Netherlands, with people saying they barely tried. That's just unfair, even if the performance was far below par, probably nobody is more disappointed than themselves in reality. Because you can bet that they all tried.
  10. I was glad Henk Grol finally managed to did something well here, first by beating the Uzbek after two losses in 24 hours and then by beating - as our commentator put it - 'a building from Brazil' But yeah, overall this has been a rather humiliating performance for the Dutch team. With the quality that exists in the team, there really should have been more than a single bronze (and possibly a second in the team event, but even then). And Altheman, damn. That truly looked awful, I hope she'll be ok and for starters be able to walk normally again.
  11. No but seriously, I can understand the frustration, but on the other hand I do respect the fact that she always fights to the absolute limit. I know most people will disagree, but sometimes I find it more important than the actual results. Step one is always to give everything you've got. And a different question: any word on Altheman's injury? I'd search on Globo or something, but that is so full with spoilers that I don't dare open it
  12. Do y'all also have Renaud Lavillenie in your picks? I'm watching the highlights of the athletics on Dutch NOS, where we heard this beauty: "Menno Vloon competes in pole vault, where the Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie is the big man and the big question is whether he will qualify." Duplantis who?!
  13. How is it going for Blom and Boonzaaijer? I mean, I can check the results, but I have no idea if this is what they were expected to do in dressage, worse or better
  14. Damn, Henk Grol came with a mission for gold in his final tournament (unlikely as it was), but within 25 seconds an Uzbek throws him on his back and a day later in the team event the same Uzbek does the same thing...in 19 seconds
  15. I don't think Jacoby's goggles issue cost her team a chance at a medal, that's highly wishful thinking They were more than one and a half second behind the medals and she posted a time which was just excellent, there was no way she would have been able to go a second faster otherwise (let alone 1,63 seconds), no way at all.
  16. I dare say no country has a stronger medal table obsession than a country where the biggest media actually changes the way the table is presented (not the usual and official gold first, then silver, then bronze, but total medals first) just to make them look like they're in 1st place when they're actually not.
  17. Which really looked like a horrible stoppage...it felt like the referee has his mortage bet on Davis.
  18. 100m breast women: 1:05.0 100m breast men: 59.0 100m free women: 53.0 100m free men: 47.0 W breast + M free = 1:52 M breast + W free = 1:52 Right, in this specific case the difference is tiny Fastest American man on breast wins as much on the fastest American woman on breast as the fastest American woman on free loses on the fastest American man on free (In ideal circumstances, there is a bit more space in these times in M breast than in M free)
  19. Jealousy for what? Nothing was expected from the Dutch team here and seeing awesome events is way more important than seeing the same nationality as in one's own passport win things. This is not an awesome event. A mixed event can be good, but make it only the 4x100 free if a mixed is so badly needed, and have a set starting order.
  20. Also absolutely unbelievable US went for Dressel in the 100 free and not a woman. And even worse, also a woman in the breaststroke
  21. It's bad enough when men/women order can be chosen at will, but when there's entirely different strokes (in which the differences between men and women are far from the same), it's a whole different kind of nonsense.
  22. Ugh, even the unwatcheable shooting is easier to follow than this nonsense
