  1. Does the Netherlands count as 'outside of Croatia'? If so, it's not being buried here. It's not super huge news or anything, but it has definitely been mentioned.
  2. Still have the single mixed to watch, but one conclusion can already be made: more World Cups in Otepää please, this was a ton of fun with a great atmosphere
  3. That's 20% of the medals being up for grabs now that the 'students' from Russia are out
  4. @Sindo Totallympics being down all day until now, does that have something to do with an upgrade or something? The whole forum seems to react way quicker now
  5. So basically mixed and open sound like different concepts, but in reality the format is exactly the same only with a different number And apparently two athletes can form a relay team together. Which makes me wonder: considering there is at least one nation with a full-male team on the start list, theoretically even a nation which only has a single male (or a single female athlete) could start in a relay with just their one athlete Edit: Hadn't noticed the last paragraph yet, dang it. No solo relay team
  6. Ireen Wüst has just skated her last race and is now a former speed skater. What a career
  7. About the relays in cross-country: does anyone know the difference between the mixed relay and the open relay? Both start lists are a total mess, with teams in every random combination one can imagine, from only sit skiers, to three men + one woman, to four male sit skiers, to Canada which starts with one visually impaired man and one standing woman who both ski twice. Mixed relay: https://results.beijing2022.cn/beijing-2022/paralympic-games/static/pwg2022/pdf/PWG2022/CCS/PWG2022_CCS_C51C_CCSX4X2.5KM-12150-----FNL-000100--.pdf Open relay: https://results.beijing2022.cn/beijing-2022/paralympic-games/static/pwg2022/pdf/PWG2022/CCS/PWG2022_CCS_C51C_CCSO4X2.5KM-12150-----FNL-000100--.pdf Both are mixed in terms of impairments and in terms of male/female, and so both seem open as well. What's up with this?
  8. What, mixed relay can have two women + two men but also having just one woman is fine. Out of eight countries, six have a regular mixed team, Brazil has three men and one woman (they only have one woman) and to the surprise of nobody, China went for the three men + one woman as well, they'll win this by an hour https://results.beijing2022.cn/beijing-2022/paralympic-games/static/pwg2022/pdf/PWG2022/CCS/PWG2022_CCS_C51C_CCSX4X2.5KM-12150-----FNL-000100--.pdf At least there is some time adjustment work done with that, to make things more complicated to follow, but a little more 'fair'.
  9. Has there been any controversy regarding some of the sit skiers yet? Especially Mao Zhongwu seems like a tad of a misclassification....instead of in the category with the most severe disability, his movement strongly suggests he should be not one category higher, but arguably even in the category with the lightest disability (so 100% time instead of only 86%) He moves way better than most athletes with lighter classifications.. Edit: LW10 is for athletes who can't sit up without support. Didn't know it doesn't necessarily have so much to do with how much one can move, i.e. athletes who move significantly better on the skis but can't sit up without support are classified with a more severe disability than athletes who can't move well, but can sit up without support.
  10. We may find that to sound ridiculous, but you do realize the insane numbers of people who follow these things through TikTok one way or another and not in any other way? Basically by ridiculing this, you'd be saying millions and millions of people shouldn't be informed about what's going on.
  11. Skiing is 'kayak' in Turkish? Now that's interesting
  12. An actual sports channel shows that? Sports channels here usually show only sports and/or documentaries (related to sports), but they never really show theater performances
  13. Sure, but it's still his choice. It's just bullshit to ban him for life (!) and take away every prize he won in the country (!) because he doesn't make a public statement. It's not like he cheated or anything. And no, I'm not agreeing with him in terms of staying in Russia, but it is up to him and shouldn't result in nonsense like taking away things he earned fair and square.
  14. Right, record international Anatoliy Tymoshchuk has been banned for life from any football related activity and stripped of all of his (Ukrainian) prizes by the Ukrainian football federation, because of a lack of a public statement against Russia and his choice to not lose his job (which happens to be in Russia). Utter insanity.
  15. This surprises me, I've been watching both sports for more than half my life and I can't name a single Lithuanian off the top of my head Not doubting you, by the way, just expressing my surprise
  16. This is so much better than all those seemingly similar jumps in the aerials (with half the field going for the same jump)
  17. Yeah that has been quite clear I mostly meant to point out Lavrov's utter bullshit "Russia has not attacked Ukraine". I mean, defend your country, have this or that view, but water is still wet. How dumb does he think the world is
  18. Judging by the bullshit all Russian embassy accounts worldwide are spreading on Twitter, one can't be too surprised anymore
  19. Huh, here I was thinking all of Slovakia is lined up for all the canoe slalom competitions
  20. But he's still so young My main memory of Ito: being in 2nd place in a Sapporo World Cup where I had quite some significant bets on him to finish on the podium at odds of 10+ and for him to win at 50+, which was going excellent....and then...
  21. It's not even really on public TV except for (I think) the final of the national league and a few minutes in the weekly sports roundup Possibly world championships are shown in highlight format, or maybe on a paid channel, but I really have no idea And boccia of all things beating out ice hockey or mountainbike or something. What.
  22. RIP other countries, judging by Lavrov's words.
  23. "Which of the following sports do you follow the most, for example in media or by visiting events and competitions? You can select a maximum of three sports." The first column, translated, is: - Football - Formula 1 - Speed skating - Cycling - Darts - Tennis - Athletics - Swimming - Car racing (not F1) - Basketball - Boxing Full PDF with research, but of course in Dutch: https://www.nederlandse-sportraad.nl/documenten/publicaties/2019/12/05/onderzoek-sportbeleving
