  1. Is it really much worse than the annual Tour de France ending on Champs Elysees?
  2. Won't be able to vote for all, but for the ones that I've had time to consider I selected: BEST FEMALE ATHLETE for sportswomen in Olympic sports #1: Irene Schouten #2: Sydney McLaughlin #3: Iga Świątek #4: Annemiek van Vleuten #5: Marte Olsbu Røiseland #6: Sandra Näslund BEST MALE ATHLETE for sportsmen in Olympic sports #1: Armand Duplantis #2: Victor Axelsen #3: Marco Odermatt #4: Johannes Thingnes Bø #5: Nils Van der Poel #6: David Popovici BEST PARALYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes in Paralympic sports #1: Petrúcio Ferreira #2: Katrine Kristensen #3: Simone Barlaam #4: Jesper Pedersen #5: Oksana Masters #6: Leanne Smith BEST MEN'S TEAM for men's teams or groups (including Olympic, Paralympic and Non-Olympic sports) #1: Italy volleyball #2: Finland ice hockey #3: Sweden show jumping #4: Sweden handball #5: #6: BEST WOMEN'S TEAM for women's teams or groups (including Olympic, Paralympic and Non-Olympic sports) #1: Canada ice hockey #2: England football #3: USA basketball #4: Serbia volleyball #5: #6:
  3. 100% gold medal in handall? Both teams will certainly be contenders, but not necessarily favourites
  4. For I would say: Badminton - men's singles (Viktor Axelsen) Handball - Men's tournament Sailing - Women's laser radial (Anne Marie Rindom) Cycling, track - Men's madison Equestrian - Dressage team
  5. Seriously? Losing the Euro semi final after a BS penalty, even after the near death of the captain, dominating the qualification for the Worlds, beating France twice in the Nations league... This was the strongest Danish team in a damn long time just until this Championship, not necessarily the players considering the playing time in their teams, but the collective has been terrific all the time since the Euro.
  6. Some tough ones there in Sweden. Would agree about Van der Poel in bot årets manliga idrottare and årets prestation. Jonna Sundling would be my pick for året kvinnliga idrottare. Årets Nykomling is very close between Linn Grant and Hellvig/Åhman. Årets Ledare also close, but I would say Johannes Lukas
  7. My 10 votes went for Viktor Axelsen Turpal Bisultanov Dressurholdet Katrine Kristensen Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour Leon Madsen Mads Pedersen Holger Rune Tobias Thorning Jonas Vingegaard I believe the win will be between Vingegaard and Axelsen and would guess either Holger Rune, Laudrup-Dufour or the dressage team will be no. 3
  8. The longlist for one of Denmark's most prestigious sports awards, B.T. Guld has been announced. The winner is selected by Danish athletes, but the public are allowed to vote for who should be in the top 10 that's presented to the athletes. In case the men's football team makes it to the semi in Qatar they will automatically join the top 10 Emma Aastrand Jørgensen (K1 200m European Champion) Viktor Axelsen (Badminton World Champion, All England Champion...) Men's badminton team (Thomas Cup bronze) Men's 4000m team pursuit (World Championships bronze) Turpal Bisultanov (Wrestling European Champion) Magnus Cort (Tour de France stage win and multiple days in polka dots) Dressage team (World Champions) Christian Eriksen (Comeback to football) Men's handball team (European bronze) Women's handball team (European silver) Men's Icehockey team (7th at the Olympics) Ida Karstoft (200m European bronze) Nanna Koerstz Madsen (won Honda LPGA Thailand) Katrine Kristensen (2 World Championships, para-dressage) Julie Leth (Worlds silver - Track cycling points race) Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour (World team champion and 2 World silvers - dressage) Gabriel "Iffe" Lundber (first Dane in the NBA) Leon Madsen (Speedway European champion and worlds silver) Kevin Magnussen (comeback to F1) Mads Pedersen (stage victories in the Tour and Vuelta and points jersey in the Vuelta) Anne Marie Rindom (Laser Radial world champion) Holger Rune (Several tennis wins) Tobias Thorning (2 World Championships, para-dressage) Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (stage win Tour de France Femmes and Tour of Scandinavia GC) Jonas Vingegaard (Tour de France win)
  9. Seriously haven't felt any interest (unlike what I thought)
  10. What a tournament so far from the Danish women!
  11. Let's bring Vagner Love back into the Brazilian national team just to get a reaction!
  12. It's certainly not just people who wouldn't normally care about the WC. I know that Denmark is one of the more extreme cases (of the participating nations I believe only Germany are at more or less the same level) but also lots of huge football fans are very clearly saying that they won't be watching while some others may just watch Denmark's mathes. At least here in Denmark, I doubt that the criticism will become silent when the games start.
  13. I'll happily criticize the US (believe me, I do that quite a lot), but that's not the point. This is 6500 people who died preparing the country for the World Cup due to slave-like conditions. This World Cup (and other prestige projects from Qatar) cost lives. Sports should NOT do so!
  14. Yeah. If 6500 dead migrant workers didn't show FIFA what a disgrace this is, I'm sure ruining the relationship with one of FIFA's sponsors will help FIFA understanding what a huge mistake this is! But then again... Infantino's press conference doesn't show any understanding. God, I'm embarrassed as a football fan!
  15. Yeah sure. Ukraine certainly wants to start WW3! By all means it was a faulty Anti-Air missile. A mistake and a tragedy. Ruling it out is the wrong response from Zelenskyy but talking about a false flag attack is rather stupid.
  16. The median salary is quite a bit lower. My salary is about 2500 less (not counting quarterly bonuses) and I'm still pretty clearly in the top half
  17. Hey... They did have 4 players born in Qatar!
  18. Actively trying to create longer lines at polling places by closing down a lot of them... I mean, wanting 15 polling places for 4,5 million in Maricopa County is a disasterous idea. In my municipality with about 355.000 we have just below 50. Meanwhile in Georgia it's now prohibited to give food and water to people waiting in lines... Which they want to be longer. Or making it harder to register as voter for students, cutting down on early voting. Quite a lot of differences from Denmark. Voter ID's isn't a bad idea (or some other ID). But when the US population is so much anti-state that they cannot keep track of where their citizens live and give ID's to every single citizen, it is a major problem, especially towards minorities. I mean... If I move, I get a new ID sent for free. Quite a lot of US states even have stricter ID rules than Denmark. The democrats are in no way perfect. They do gerrymandering in some states as well and certainly some ideas about election laws are more about getting more voters, but they did not censure a secretary of state or governor for affirming the election results or have candidates say very clearly that they will not accept a loss.
  19. Not at all, but when about 2/3 of the party who lost last time claims that the election was stolen and the entire party have been working hard in most states to make it harder to vote, especially for groups who usually votes for the Democrats.
  20. Meanwhile today is the day where the fight for US democracy will lose... It has already been on a decline, but we'll certainly see it happen quicker after tonight!
  21. So today's election day in Denmark. 14 parties including a few new ones and record numbers have been unsure who they'll vote for. Really nothing is certain. One thing is known. The Faroe Islands voted yesterday where the Social Democrats and a liberal party got the two faroese seats.
