  4. so, once again Turkey proved the true European powerhouse in youth Karate... this year they won 15 medals (6 Gold, 3 Silver & 6 Bronze) and dominated the medal table ahead of France and Azerbaijan, both finishing the championship with 4 Gold medals each (FRA won more "side" medals)... then Italy ended up in 4th place in the medal table with 3 Gold medals, unfortunately (shamefully) all of them in Kata... following ITA, a small group of Nations with 2 Gold medals and some more with 1 Gold medal each... in total, we have 18 Nations winning at least 1 Gold medal and 36 winning at least 1 medal (no matter the colour)...

  10. and we're also going to gain a lot of points over our direct rivals (UKR / HUN / RUS and CHN)... with a bit of luck in the finals, we're likely to earn our ticket on the flight to Tokyo with a tournament still to be played...or maybe not...the ranking is still to close to express mathematical verdicts tonight (except for FRA, who are already actually mathematically qualified with the results recorded so far tonight)...
  11. yesssss!!! we are in the top 4 once again!!!
  12. the Ukranians are going for their usual messy and intimidatory tactics... I hope our guys won't let them take advantage of dirty play...
  13. Italian Foil GP (M + W), Semifinals and Finals (Live @ 6 p.m. CET)

  18. no good news for Italy also in the men's Foil GP... except for Foconi, all the Italian top specialists are already out after round of #32... meanwhile among the women, only Batini is out among our top girls (we have 5 in the top 16, but now we have 2 direct match-ups between Italians in the next round)... update: and once again, the disappointing "dynamic duo" Errigo & Di Francisca missed the podium after losing in the quarterfinals against Thibus and Kiefer respectively... so, now we have only Volpi in the "final four"...
  19. women's team Epee, projected scores (today's current results included) 1st, CHINA 330-342 (26) mathematically qualified 2nd, RUSSIA 308-312 (32) mathematically qualified 3rd, POLAND 304-306 (30) mathematically qualified 4th, USA 284-288 (28) mathematically qualified 5th, ITALY 278-279 (24-25) mathematically qualified (European Continental spot) 6th, SOUTH KOREA 247-259 (21) (Asian Continental spot) 7th, ESTONIA 222-223 (22-23) 8th, FRANCE 201-203 (24) 9th, UKRAINE 197 (8) 10th, GERMANY 171-172 (20) 11th, HUNGARY 166-168 (20) 12th, ROMANIA 162-163 (21) 13th, CANADA 156-157 (18) (Panamerican Continental spot) 14th, HONG KONG 151-153 (8) 15th, SWITZERLAND 147-148 (21) 16th, EGYPT 124-125 (8) (African Continental spot) 17th, JAPAN 125 (8) Note: in parentheses the number of points currently to be discarded after the last tournament...
  20. yeah, you're right...my mistake... this means that EST are in pole position for the repechage spot (if it's gonna be available, but I think EGY in the end would make it into the top 16, as JPN basically gave it up)...
  21. even if EGY are out, I don't think you can get anything... ITA won't make it to the top 4, therefore the European spot would go to them...meanwhile the repechage spot would finally go to USA or KOR (the 1 who would miss the top 4 between those 2)... even EST and UKR to me don't have any chance to qualify (and in case a miracle happens and ITA end up in the top 4, EST have a 20-point margin over FRA before the last event and also UKR are more or less in the same area of FRA...so, we'll see the exact maths at the end of today's tournament, but I think it's everything already decided)...
  22. Women's Team Epee (Barcelona, ESP) Final Results Gold: South Korea Silver: China Bronze: United States Semifinals: South Korea b. USA 45-32 China b. Russia 45-30 Bronze Medal Match: USA b. Russia 45-27 Gold Medal Match: South Korea b. China 39-34 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://fie.org/competitions/2020/822
  23. almost impossible...they have to hope that ITA makes it to the top 4 (which is highly unlikely) and then they also have to make up more than 20 points on EST... by the way, with RUS in the top 4, also Italy are mathematically qualified to the Games...
  24. all the Italian girls are going bad today...
  25. talking of the women's Team Epee, however, with today's early scores included, China, Poland, Russia and USA are already mathematically qualified to the Olympic Games... and even in the worst case scenario, also Italy can't be catched anymore by any other European Nation (only Korea winning today and Russia ending up 6th or worse could deny us the official qualification already at the end of today's event because of KOR keeping a really outside chance to push RUS out of the top 4 and therefore make ITA not the best Euro Team outside the top 4)...
