  6. updated with the final results of the Athens world cup stage...
  7. meanwhile here we have the projected OQR in women's Team Sabre when only the finals and placement matches are left in today's competition - and assuming that the last tournament won't be cancelled)... 1. Russia 364-376 (26) Mathematically qualified - Top 4 of the Overall OQR 2. France 298-300 (26-28) Mathematically qualified - Top 4 of the Overall OQR 3. Italy 286-294 (30) Mathematically qualified - Top 4 of the Overall OQR 4. South Korea 284-286 (30) Mathematically qualified - Top 4 of the Overall OQR 5. Hungary 261-265 (21) Virtually qualified - European Continental spot 6. Ukraine 241 (25) 7. United States 233-234 (22-23) Mathematically qualified - Panamerican Continental spot 8. China 226-228 (26-28) Virtually qualified - Asian Continental spot 9. Poland 187-191 (23) 10. Japan 176 (8) 11. Spain 173-175 (25) 12. Germany 163 (21) 13. Turkey 149 (20) 14. Canada 144 (8) 15. Azerbaijan 142 (8) 16. Tunisia 133 (8) Virtually qualified - African Continental spot 17. Venezuela 124-125 (8) in parenthesis the projected discarded scores until today... in this case, instead, we still have a few spots open, that will be decided only in the last tournament (if it's held somewhere sometimes)... Ukraine today almost compromised their chances to earn the European berth, even if they still have a really remote chance, but they could also take advantage of a possible drop from Tunisia out of the top 16 (most likely it will be a direct match-up between Venezuela and Tunisia in the round of 32 of the last tournament to decide the Tunisian -and Ukranian- destiny)... the Asian spot, instead, most likely will go to China, but they have to wait and see if South Korea drop out of the top 4 overall in the last tournament (unlikely, Hungary have too many points to make up, but an early exit by the Koreans could open the door for a surprising outcome...who knows? )... the African spot, as said, could go to Tunisia, but they desperately need to save their asses from a possible Venezuelan upset in the last event, otherwise there won't be any African team in Tokyo in women's sabre...
  8. yes, just look at the OQR recap above...

  12. no, most likely they have stopped training...I rather see 0 medals incoming...
  13. I know... but this is the result...now we have to close even bigger areas than what it would need one month ago... p.s. now I'm directly involved too...but I still hope the supermarkets in this part of Milan don't get empty with no real reason...
  14. that's the main problem...the quarantined areas were too small...in Lombardy there are almost 10 million people in a few square Kms...it's obvious that the infection couldn't be kept within such small areas... probably they should have closed down the entire Region since the beginning, but you know...Italy is the house of local and selfish interests and it's impossible to take reasonable decisions early, until the situation is out of control (like it is right now)...
  15. and here we go... our Government has just published a law that makes the whole North-Center of Italy a big Red Zone... the entire Lombardy Region plus all the provinces of Asti, Alessandria (in Piedmont, right on the western border of Lombardy), Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena (Emilia Region, southern border of Lombardy) and most of the Veneto Region (Verona, Padua, Venice, Treviso provinces) are locked in and quarantined from today until the next April, 3rd (at least)... no people are allowed to enter/exit from the area and basically, everything is going to get closed down/cancelled...every public event won't be held, all marriages and funerals are postponed, schools, churces, gyms, swimming pools, all leisure time places (cinemas, theatres, museums, discos, night clubs and similar) have been closed, only malls and supermarkets can be open, but only from Monday through Friday and only if they can ensure limited access so to keep the "safe distance" between the people inside (at least 1m distance between people inside the mall/supermarket and no people lining up at the exit when paying the bills)... finally, most people have been asked to take advantage of their vacation days right now and stay home instead of going to work (only exception, doctors and medical staff, who, instead, can't take any break from their job until the emergency status is over)...
  16. latest news are about making all these events with restricted participation only good for MQS and not giving away any point for world ranking nor world cup standings... but there's nothing official yet...and I fear there will be a lot of fights about what should be done or not in terms of Olympic qualification... Italy, for instance, are already threatening IJF to go to the TAS if they will keep the points of next week's Grand Slam in Russia in the OQR (no Italians will be allowed to participate, but Chinese and Koreans will...this is really a joke)... and I think we're going to see a lot of those actions should this discrimination of only few Countries/Regions continue...
  17. it was not her first competition of the year...the Italian girls already appeared in 2/3 stages of the Italian team championship (and Villa was already very good -showing also new exercises at balance beam and uneven bars- in the 1st stage of that competition about 1 month ago)... so, I don't really know why she wasn't competitive today (on the Italian press they say she was tired because of the long flight to Milwaukee and that she didn't recover the jet lag...most likely she's paying the prize for all the restrictions related to the coronavirus...all of our gymnasts come from Lombardy, which is the the center of the troubles we're experiencing right now with that damned virus...just in these hours our government is preparing a new law declaring the entire Region "closed down" and quarantined...full red zone, which means that probably Villa won't even be allowed to comeback home for quite a while, should they really approve such a draconian measure )...
  18. very depressing opening of the shooting season... not all the best shooters at the start, poor coverage (the final's broadcast stopped after few targets! at least the on-demand video available on Livestream/Vimeo platform) and not only... moreover, the next stage in New Delhi won't award any WC point (if it's confirmed as scheduled, which is quite unlikely), as not all shooters will be able to go to India because of the restrictions following the worldwide spreading of the new coronavirus)...
  19. 2020 World Cup, Stage #1 (Nicosia, CYP) Women's Skeet Gold: Nadine Messerschmidt Silver: Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit Bronze: Danka Bartekova
  20. Women's Individual Sabre (Athens, GRE) Final Results Gold: Mariel Zagunis Silver: Liza Pusztai Bronze: Misaki Emura & Theodora Gkoutoura Semifinals: Zagunis b. Emura 15-8 Pusztai b. Pusztai 15-6 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://fie.org/competitions/2020/469 Semifinals and Final Video Replay
  21. Men's Individual Sabre (Luxemburg, LUX) Final Results Gold: Aron Szilagyi Silver: Gu Bon Gil Bronze: Veniamin Reshetinkov & Oh Sanguk Semifinals: Szilagyi b. Reshetnikov 15-9 Gu b. Oh 15-8 Gold Medal Match: Szilagyi b. Gu 15-12 Here is the Full Final Ranking (and Results) from Today's competition: https://fie.org/competitions/2020/156
  22. considering that they just cancelled this week's Judo Grand Prix in Rabat, I don't see how they can think to save the Karate K1PL stage... by the way, all ACL injuries have different degree of severity... it mainly depends on how much the ligament is damaged, if it's only torn (and how much?) or partially broken or completely broken, hanging inside the knee... in the first case, a relatively quick recovery is possible...if the ligament is completely destroyed and needs to be replaced with an artificial one, probably it's a success if she gets walking normally again... if you need an example, you can look at Sara Cardin...she had ACL before the 2018 worlds and she got back in an international competition in last year's Serie A tournament in Istanbul (way more than 6 months after the knee operation)... and she's not yet the athlete she used to be, despite her success in this year's stages in Santiago (2nd) and Salzburg (winner)...
  23. ok, I surrender... Tokyo 2020 will be my last Games, always if they are going to be held somehow sometimes... I just can't stand this ioc anymore...
  24. Strade Bianche race offiially cancelled (but the organizers have asked UCI to find another date -maybe in Autumn- to try and get a replacement)... Milano-Sanremo and Tirreno-Adriatico not yet cancelled...the organizers and the Italian Government are trying to save them until the last useful minute, but I fear there won't be any option but to cancel them too (or at least postpone them to a more favourable period of the year, if it's possible)...
  25. it's obvious that you didn't watch the recent African qualifiers... unfortunately, nothing has changed in Boxing...they're still the good old cheaters they used to be, even under the new working group...
