  1. I just have to stop watching live Sofia's races...one day she's gonna make me have an heart attack...
  2. Lillehammer 1994...and not only because they were the most successful Winter Games ever for Italy... the overall atmosphere was amazing, by far the best of all times...especially in the outdoor events and at the Viking Ship (speedskating)... even the Ice Hockey Gold Medal match between Sweden and Canada was one of the best hockey matches ever played...for sure, the best ever played by (still) non-NHL players...
  3. our NOC's boss said he's gonna be happy with 11 total medals (and at least 4 golds)... where have I to sign? frankly, I expect a big flop from our team, even worse than the "0 tituli" of 2014... our main chances are women's downhill and super-G in alpine skiing, the women's snowboardcross and the women's 500m in short track...those are the only 4 medals I'd be really disappointed if we don't get them... anything else, it would be a pleasant gift...
  4. according to our main biathlon/wintersports expert, he was talking with our federation to understand if there's room for him in our NT... and it looks our coaches are more than happy to have him with us (still it wouldn't be that easy for him to get an Italian passport in a relatively quick time)... but now it's highly unlikely he's going to switch Nationality after NZ decided to let him go to Beijing with their colours (which is always been his dream and primary option)...
  5. He still lives and trains in Livigno...I don't think anything's gonna change for him (except maybe that he would make a bit more money from personal sponsors and he won't switch his sport Nationality...to Italy! )...
  6. I hope (and think) Switzerland, as they have chances in more disciplines (Austria is relying too much on alpine skiing and luge)...
  7. Italy will use only 6 of their 7 quota in women's CC skiing... I think it's the first time we reject quota places despite having enough eligible athletes in the more crowded winter sports (in ski jumping we rejected 1 of the 3 quota places only because we don't have a 3rd jumper to send to China)...
  8. thank you! of course I haven't watched the event and I only trusted both the results page and the italian website OA, reporting the wrong results, too... what a shame for FIE! once again...they can't even take care of the final results of their top tier competition... I'm going to fix the results immediately...
  9. Italy Daniel Grassl, men's single Matteo Rizzo, men's single Lara Naki Gutmann, women's single (Team Event only, unless she gets a reallocation spot) Charlene Guignard & Marco Fabbri, ice dance Nicole Della Monica & Matteo Guarise, pairs Rebecca Ghilardi & Filippo Ambrosini, pairs
  10. surprisingly, Italy will use all of their quota also in women's snowboardcross... this is our Olympic squad (pending official announcement, but sure at 100%)... women Michela Moioli (2018 Olympic Champion) Sofia Belinghieri Caterina Carpano (surprising nominèe) Francesca Gallina men Filippo Ferrari Tommaso Leoni Lorenzo Sommariva Omar Visintin (back after fracturing an arm at the beginning of this season)

  13. at the end of the season...final overall ranking...
  14. her best results at the end of the year were: 5th in 2011/12 6th in 2012/13 4th in 2013/14
  15. yes, you're right... my mistake... completely forgot about that, despite the event being held in Torino (the same hall that hosted speedskating at the Winter Olympics a few months before)...
  16. she was 3rd in the Pan-American Zone Championships in 2007... in world cup and world champs she didn't achieve any top 8 placing...
  17. yes, Grand Prix tournaments are the top tier of the world cup events... oh, yes...I was talking only of the women's foil discipline... if we look at epee and sabre, Canada has had some success in the past (especially at the beginning of those disciplines' era)... not sure about the men, though...personally, I don't remember any Canadian man on the podium in any of the 3 disciplines...
  18. she gets 32 points, so she should go up to 9th place in the WR (overtaking Nikitina, Zagunis and Yoon)
  19. based on a super quick (and therefore not so accurate) research, Harvey was already 3rd in the Shanghai Grand Prix event in 2018...that should be the first podium finish in the last 10 years for a female Canadian fencer...follow by today's result... however, I bet on her and Jessica Guo to improve that score in a very short time...
  20. it will come...for sure... imho, Maliszewska is the favourite over the 500m in short track...even more than the most anticipated Schulting, Fontana and Boutin... but you know...it's short track, where nothing goes according to logic... by the way, you didn't mention Aleksandra Krol and the guys (Nowaczyk and Kwiatkowski) in snowboard's PGS (more Krol than the guys, though)...and I wouldn't write their names off before the races start...
  21. no, I don't think... however, I'll try to make a research about it...
  22. talking about the new sports arena (going to host men's ice hockey at the 2026 Olympics) and the area where it's going to be built... it's near the site where sky Italia have their offices and studios, named Rogoredo...and it's one of the most degraded and dangerous places in Milan (it's closed to a place named "il boschetto dei tossici" -the drug addicted little woods- the main spot for that kind of illegal activity in town)... this is a presentation of the project (unfortunately it's only in Italian)... https://blog.urbanfile.org/2021/09/07/milano-santa-giulia-presetto-il-progetto-scelto-per-la-nuova-arena/ San Siro instead is one of the most appreciated residential blocks in town (even if the locals hate the stadium because there's always too much traffic and noise also late at night when there are football events and especially rock concerts)...
  23. our girls... our guys...
