gv looking forward to see the events for this week .............looks like an active week world womens boxing is a big event for india starting a couple of days I saw something in the thread about duttee competing in some events , we also have the world athletics challenge starting in shanghai this week 18th tirtha had mentioned in his posts that dutee was competing Beijing (IAAF World Challenge on May 18) and Taiwan (May 19-20) also I think the ATP event starts in rome which is critical for lee and rohan to improve their rankings ......I am sure may be missing a few

what are the other events in which our athletes are participating ?

I agree completely and what a great result ...this is the 5th time in 2 years that the 3000 SC for women Indian national record has been broken and this would create the need in babar to better it .....so expect her to really go ahead.......This is an awesome result for indian atheletics

India reach the bronze final in the compound women's team at the archery world cup at Medellin ................. in this world cup this is the sole event that they have reached upto medal range ..................so hoping they come back with at least 1 medal

Judo ... 1) the first 22 men and top 14 women in each weight category get selected subject to a max of seven per NOC .......non of the Indians are even remotely close here 2) after that continental quotas (Europe 25, Africa 24, Pan America 21, Asia 20 and Oceania 10 across both sexes and all divisions) are also subjected to an overall limit to one judoka per NOC and two judoka per division from each continent.....so if you do not cross the limit of 7 and 7 you can have a maximum of one more judoka and so on down the list for the asian top 20 countries / pan american 21 and so on depending on your highest ranking judoka .. In the Asian list India is 18th highest so we will definitely qualify one judoka ( Jordon and Lebanon below us) ... you can see the full list here https://www.judobase.org/#/ogq/country The question is which Judoka will qualify ... In the complex qualification system it may not be the highest ranked though normally it may be ..... currently we have 2 in contention ........... Kalpana in the 52- and avtar in the 90- weight categories ............... currently it is avtar who is getting the continental quota and I feel that will not change by may end ... In recent times he has gone upto the bronze level match up and lost in the Asian championship so can be a good judoka ..................... he had defeated in this tournament / recent tournaments defeated iranian moradi and chinese Bu so he has potential to be a medalist at least at the Asian games level ................. I am hoping he will get the quota as the training will be good for him

normally before a big event ...to ensure that you peak you have a schedule and the coach may have events planned at specific times so that you peak at the right time ............... The indian team has had a large exposure over a long period of time in the last event they were silver medalists and also in the qualification tourney before that so possibly the coach may have a schedule before the event , the mens critical event is coming and if you recollect they got the bronze in the previous world cup ... so again the may be in practice to iron out some kinks before that...................... I think the coaches decision should be honored ................. even the korean team does not play many tournaments

at the archery world cup at medellin ..... Indian second string team provides no upsets .............no individuals reach semis ...... 2 indian men reach compound quarters ( abhishek and gurwinder ) and 1 indian women in compound quarter lily paonam ...... the only person who stood out was Lily .... I think she may be a good talent for the women compund team with jyothi ......................... we lost in the mixed and recurve teams in the 1st and 2nd rounds so our only hope rests with the compound teams ...India has reached the semis in women compound and quarters in men compound

Kalpana Devi ( thoudham - nice name for a fighter ) points will go up...................... but I have been disappointed in her performances this year ................................ I think avtar has done better this year in Judo ..................... his fight is tomorrow I think so hope he does better and stays ahead of kalpana

With all the issues with drugging ....good to see we do not have any cases ......................... India is not the best countries as far as doping goes we have had a bad history especially our weightlifters but we have no cases of any wrestler caught drugging so we have also benefitted now because of this ...... 2 quotas transferred ,...... total of 8 ...Indian wrestlers are thrilled ...this is a record and a huge motivation for the GR and FW wrestlers

Last year only one athelete went below 1:10 - Habiba .... I feel a 1.12 or 1.13 may fetch a medal in rio so a 13-15 seconds improvement is required which is very difficult but lalita is improving so
