  1. After state-run doping programs and pressure cooker prestige ........................ i like the Idea of the blokes of the Bermuda National Olympic committee meeting at groslings wine cellar and announcing the squad which for Bermuda is " already qualified for Rio are Tyrone Smith in the long jump, sprinter Tre Houston, sailor Cecilia Wollmann and rower Shelley Pearson. Triathlete Flora Duffy has all but qualified"
  2. that's close to 10% of tested athletes .....this is really sick .........................
  3. "The Bermuda Olympic Association will announce the island’s team for the Olympics at Gosling’s Wine Cellar on Thursday, June 23". ..............this is from a news item I read ....... I just loved the venue .....
  4. surprising group of atheletes ..............many of them are not well known or even close to qualificaton ...presumably other than ankit and om ...............none of them seem to be big names ...the 4*100 seems to be trying very hard ...... they are in both events with a days gap ...................
  5. 43.5 or so is a qualification time ....so if they were to hit that then they can hope to do another one later
  6. good information ...maybe they will update it by today day end .............. source ?
  7. India tomorrow at the Uber Cup Indias has reached the quarters according to me ........but the question who will top the group we play the absolutely brilliant Japanese team tomorrow to determine who tops the group The two singles would be close ( this is based on the likely team of japan ) Akane Yamaguchi vs Sidhu - Sidhu has an edge Nozomi Akuhara vs Saina - Nozomi is in blinding form and seems to have an edge against Saina but if saina is fit this could be close Sayaka Sato is ranked 12th in the world and Ruthvika is 110+ so it does not seem a fair contest but maybe the time for ruthvika to make a name matsutoma and takahashi are ranked 1 in the world - does jwala ashwini have a chance ??? - not a snowballs in hell as they have been poor form as well fukoman / Yanoa are ranked world number 9 .......not a chance in hell for a scratrch pair ....again a miracle is needed very tough game I am hoping we make it at least 2-3 and praying for a miracle
  8. India at the Uber cup status update India defeated Germany 5-0 .....This win was expected ...... the only question was the doubles pairing and ruthvika performance ................. she is ranked at 110+ in womens singles ...... I personally feel she is a high caliber player who is young enough to improve steeply ....she is getting a good chance by being part of the Uber team ..... she defeated Yvonne li in straight sets ......... I like our team here Saina / Sindhu / Ruthvika in the singles - I think they are the best we have ( tanvi is higher than ruthvika but I think ruthvika is better ) Jwala / ashiwini and sindhu / sikki in the doubles .................... I personally think they should play maneesha / sikki or......... pradnya /sikki as that will build a second womens combination rather than using this scratch combination of sikki / sindhu .......... other than that I think this is the very best team ,,,,,,, form I think is bit subjective ... i feel Saina has recovered from her injury so is looking good ..... Sindhu is the X factor but Is also in reasonable form .......Jwala/ashwini have been really off color so they should grind themselves in ... today they had a long match against the german doubles pair and did well to grind out a three set victory
  9. I know but it was a weak team without kidambi / prannoy in the singles and also jerry Chopra in the doubles...we cannot come to the elite event with a second string team and hope to do well ..................... but the women hopefully should do well as it is a full team .................... also would like to see how ruthwika does as the third singles ..................
  10. Siddhanth Thingalaya breaks the National Record for 110 metres hurdles on Sunday .. .... In US at the elite sprint meet ... he clocks 13.59 and breaks his own mark of 13.65 by a significant .06 ............................unfortunately the Quota mark for rio in the 110 meters hurdles is 13.47 and he still needs to go down by another 0.12 ..........................source http://www.thehindu.com/sport/other-sports/siddhanth-thingalaya-in-the-form-of-his-life/article8608038.ece as per the article he had also broken the 60m hurdles record twice this is the 7 time a national record has been broken in athletics in the last few weeks ..........

  19. I agree completely and what a great result ...this is the 5th time in 2 years that the 3000 SC for women Indian national record has been broken and this would create the need in babar to better it .....so expect her to really go ahead.......This is an awesome result for indian atheletics
