  1. Czechoslovakia only competed because Australia, The Netherlands, West Germany, Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain, Argentina, Ireland. Japan and Fiji withdrew or declined an invitation
  2. Well, De Coubertain is quoted as saying sport would "calm the uncivilized races of Africa" and he didn't like women competing in most Olympic sports. The big difference between him and Brundage is the change of general attitude between 1900 and 1972 (when Brundage retired). DC's views were just those of an average French/European in those days - Brundage's views were already discredited when he was still president,
  3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Canadian_Paul/Olympics has been replaced by https://acsweb.ucsd.edu/~ptchir/ Same person runs it.

  10. Thank you to @Griff88
  11. Sorry, I've busy in the real world for the last couple of weeks and haven't had time to check up on the forum. The feedback page should be working well now and @Griff88's Indonesian updates should be done this weekend
  12. You obviously missed the Finnish Premier League matches livestreamed on youtube last week...
  13. Are we sure this was a mistake? This is an IOC release from 2016

  17. The worst year for deaths of Olympians in the last decade saw 524 deaths, last year saw the fewest deaths - 472 At the present rate we're on course for about 480 deaths this year.
  18. Luckily i have access to the stats. 64% of all Soviet gold medallists were Russian, next best is Ukraine with 15%
  19. Until then, maybe we could simulate an all-time greats Olympics? For example - Usain Bolt v Jesse Owens v Carl Lewis in the men's 100m? George Foreman v Teofilio Stevenso, Felix Savon or Joe Frazier in heavyweight boxing? Mark Spitz v Micheal Phelps in swimming? Uruguay football of the 20s v Hungary of the 50s v Brazil 2016?
