  1. They did it lads. What a win that was! Second gold medal of these Games . McCarthy and O’Donovan will go down as a couple of the biggest legends in Irish sporting history for years to come!
  2. GOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDD!!!! McCarthy and O’Donovan you legends
  3. Bobby Finke won silver for in the men’s 800m.
  4. God the RTE commentary in swimming is abysmal. John Kenny and Nick O’Hare sound like they are 2 drunk guys coming home from a pub trying to comment on the race. And they both slur as well when speaking too which makes it even worse
  5. Eve McMahon made a solid start to her regatta with an 8th place in race 1. Finn Lynch with a 25th place to add to his 9th place from race 1. Leaves him 16th overall.
  6. Great performance and already talking about the next 4 years and going for a medal, love to hear that!
  7. 10th place for Fannon in a new Irish record. We are having a wonderful swim meet
  8. What a silver for Christou
  9. Yep, always assume zero medals in boxing when making your predictions because you can’t rely on anything.
  10. McIntosh reigns supreme
  11. Simone Biles is an absolutely incredible gymnast
  12. A gold medal tomorrow for our men’s lightweight double rowers would mean we’ve already surpassed our Tokyo 2020 performance and would begin to zone in on surpassing Atlanta as our best Olympics on record.
  13. We have to believe it’s lady luck looking down on our sailors and we can have a bash tomorrow at a historic medal.
  14. With those conditions though it could have easily went the other way again. So it’s a good thing they abandoned it and let it be raced in better conditions to allow the sailors a fair crack at the medal race.
  15. Never so happy to see a flag other than the Irish tricolour there. Medal race abandoned so we get a reprieve for now
  16. Things not going well for the sailing boys so far in the medal race. Hopefully they can get going soon or a medal is slipping away
  17. Algeria can be so proud of this achievement
  18. Taking the Irish public for mugs. I always liked Neville Maxwell’s insights. He was always balanced and never far off the mark with his predictions and gave a realistic opinion of Irish chances.
  19. Ireland safely through to tomorrow’s team jumping final. Scores reset to zero for the final so mission accomplished today
  20. 9th for Finn Lynch in his opening race, not a bad start to the regatta. Lost a couple of spots on the last downwind leg but 9th is a solid opener. Main thing in this huge boat class is to be consistent throughout and that gets rewarded.
  21. I’m watching Discovery for almost everything too but always switch the RTÉ for an Irish final to get post race interviews and such.
  22. 4 days in a row for Ireland winning a medal! Incredible for us given how we so often struggle at Olympics to get podiums!
  23. He’s beyond awful and for someone who is supposed to have insider knowledge, he doesn’t have any realistic perception about the other crews around the world and his default is always that Ireland are gonna win and bet your house on it. So frustrating listening to that guff, imagine if that was BBC doing the same for their athletes, we’d be rightly calling out the BS.
  24. Great stuff! We would have taken this bronze before the Olympics. Just don’t listen to RTÉ analysis if you want to stay sane
