  1. Medal for Ireland in the men’s doubles ! I would have taken that before the Olympics
  2. Adeleke won’t run in the mixed relay to focus on the individual so that rules Ireland out of a medal tilt in the relays. Disappointing as we come in as European champions but it is what it is, the schedule threw up a headache and there was going to have to be a sacrifice somewhere. Would have liked to see her subbed in if we made a final (though would be a tough ask without her) but seems like that’s been ruled out as well: https://m.independent.ie/sport/olympics/rhasidat-adeleke-likely-to-miss-irish-mixed-relay-teams-bid-for-olympic-medal-to-focus-on-400m-quest/a1880908355.html
  3. Adeleke won’t run the mixed relay. Disappointed by this as we are losing a big medal chance here. I know the flip side is that Adeleke will have a stronger chance of medaling in the individual but still going to be tough. Would have agreed she should skip the heat and if we qualify for the final then to sub her in but hey ho, looks like she is opted out of it completely. Seems mad to be honest. https://m.independent.ie/sport/olympics/rhasidat-adeleke-likely-to-miss-irish-mixed-relay-teams-bid-for-olympic-medal-to-focus-on-400m-quest/a1880908355.html
  4. Well that has put a dampener on things again. Struggling to see where another medal is coming from in boxing outside of Harrington. Though not unexpected for me, I didn’t fancy our boxers to set the world alight to be honest. And O’Rourke did not fight well at all there, I think she can’t argue with the outcome to be honest. I am never confident with O’Rourke and that fight is exactly why. Overall not overly miffed by these result, had prepared myself for boxing not to deliver for us.
  5. Oh is it time for the final of the Equatorial Guinea national champs 100m freestyle?
  6. 2 cracking races to kick off the evening session! Wow!
  7. @Gianlu33 Kelly Harrington secured at least bronze today in women’s boxing. Wondering is that enough to keep our streak going? Hint: please say yes
  8. I’d gladly take any colour medal for our guys tomorrow! Always remember that medal race for Annalise in 2012 when she had a 4-way battle for gold and finished in 4th in the end. I was dreaming of a surprise gold for us and we ended up in the dreaded 4th. I will not be greedy this time and if we can sneak bronze I would sign on the dotted line now
  9. And if we get another boxing medal alongside Harrington we’ve done well. Although more than 2 medals was a possibility, 0-2 medals seems to be the middle ground of what we could expect, IMO.
  10. Don’t want to jinx it yet but Dickson and Waddilove are leading race 12 and could claw back some ground. Fingers crossed!
  11. Harrington does it again! Olympic medalist again and our third medal of these Games secured
  12. Medal for Harrington again for second consecutive Olympics. And Ireland’s third medal of these Games secured
  13. Congrats to all our Argentinian friends on here on a gold medal! Honestly so happy for you all especially given the setback at the start of the Games in the rugby. These are the things that make me love the Olympics. I hope it helps to brighten the mood again.
  14. They are still in with a shout of a medal and to be honest that’s more than most would have expected before the Games at this point so they’ve done extremely well to put themselves in this position.
  15. So happy for Guatemala and our own @Fer GUA. Enjoy the celebrations
  16. Great start for us. Expect New Zealand to surge clear soon though when their main events come and Denmark will get a good spread of medals and likely golds as well. Though if we hit most of our gold medal chances too then we could sneak our way right up the table this time. Here’s hoping
  17. What a night for us Irish and what a swim by Wiffen! All the mishaps we endure over the years makes these moments so special. Have a good night everyone, come on Ireland!
  18. It’s an amazing feeling believe me !
  19. OMG Wiffen did it!!! I am so happy I am in tears. Gold medal!!
  20. Yay, congrats for the medal Guatemala
  21. From your description sounds like New Zealand.
  22. Excuse for a second folks while I clear my lungs….. Yessssssssssssssss!!!!!!!! Ireland has an Olympic swimming medal!! And more importantly our first medal of these Olympics
  23. I was at the badminton yesterday and have to say it was my least favourite viewing experience so far. It was very distracting and hard to follow what was going on at times.
