    Thank you so much, I am honestly overjoyed. I was so nervous about watching today but I forced myself to and watched it with my Mum and I am so glad I did. It banished the Tokyo memories and made this so special. I am so happy for Rhys, his enthusiasm for this sport is just infectious. My favourite gold medal ever, even surpassing my joy at Katie Taylor’s win in 2012 in boxing as I just wanted Rhys to win so badly, even a medal of any colour so he would become an Olympic medalist and he did it!

    Huge day today for Ireland. Rhys McClenaghan’s pommel gold means we have won a medal for a 6th day in a row!! But much more importantly, this is now officially Ireland’s best ever Olympic Games!! Paris is giving us such special memories that we will never forget

    Enjoy it lads. We’ve had so many tough days across this cycle and many before. Finally we can celebrate some magnificent results and have some great moments to re-live over and over again for years to come! I am going to watch Rhys’ gold dozens of times in the next years to get me through the cold winter nights!

    Asking someone not to qualify in first as a tactical advantage is just daft as well. Seriously, just make a better and fair format. It’s actually a very interesting category as they travel at great speeds so as sailing goes it’s very viewer friendly, with the right format.

    A 3 boat final is just horrible, sorry it’s how I feel. And it’s incredibly unfair too to the winner of the series as they get one race to get familiar with the conditions of the day. It’s not hard to make it better.

    Yeah that’s such a stupid format. And the final race is also boring as heck. Most boring sailing event I’ve watched so far. With the boat speeds it makes for a great event, they need to do seriously better with showcasing it with a half-decent format.
