  2. selection for dressage Agibail Lyle with Giraldo Reserves Anna Merveldt with Esporim Judy Reynolds with Rockman Royal NG This will be Aibigail's first Olympics
  3. Don’t know if everyone has seen the entry lists have been updated
  4. It’s just unnecessary. They’ve clearly been angling to have some sort of end of season event and the diamond league final wasn’t really grabbing attention Budapest might be fine but in 2028 or 2030, it’ll be in Riyadh or Doha in front of a handful of people and TV viewers won’t care as the Olympics will have already decided who’s best
  5. I don’t see why there’s arguments. Different countries use different systems. No big deal. Every country will have a published selection criteria. For most it won’t involve too much selection drama but for GB they say first two at the national championships (if they have the standard). The USA has first 3
  6. Not a diamond league event tonight unfortunately but still big points as its Class A
  7. McCann just ran another PB in Stockholm. Just 0.16 off the standard now
  8. I think you’re spot on there but I think Barr can make it. McCann has huge scope for improvement in the 1500m as he has one poor score to be overtaken. FYI Laros isn’t out. He’s in the Dutch squad for the Europeans.
  9. McDonagh another close one. The Korean or German judge giving him the last round would have seen him win. Ah well 10/13 and 2 more than any other European nation. Let’s hope for some kind draws in Paris
  10. Most quotas 12 10 8
  11. Women’s 57kg quotas India regains the quota it earned had to relinquish because of doping
  12. Women’s 51kg quotas Full women’s team (6) for Ireland
  13. They might lose this afternoon, but the two victories this morning weren’t even close to being disputed
  14. Men’s 92kg quotas no heavyweight from (great fight but the right result for Georgia)
  15. Men’s 51kg quotas Cape Verde through to his second Olympics
  16. Quotas this morning for the women 54kg 66kg 75kg
  17. Qualifying has always been harder. Once you get there, you can get an OK draw and win a medal, but getting there is a huge battle
  18. Grainne Walsh just qualified and Broadhurst is at home. I’m very happy with these outcomes A good morning for
  19. Couldn’t be happier for Grainne Walsh as she makes it 8 boxers. Hopefully Moorhouse completes the women’s team later
  20. Happy for him as he was desperately unlucky to get an arm injury in the first world qualifier
  21. Wins for Moorehouse and Aidan Walsh this afternoon mean we have 5 going into the final quota bouts tomorrow Walsh’s win over the Cuban was impressive
  22. Good morning for the boxers. Lehane had a great win over the Ukrainian and fights an awkward looking Hungarian for the quota next Martin McDonagh looked great with a commanding win at super heavy. He fights a former world medalist from Armenia for the spot. That will be some contest
  23. Broadhurst lost today. Her GB rivals have been celebrating this Amy has had two chances to qualify for the Olympics. One for Ireland, one for GB. She’ll still blame others for not qualifying
  24. I desperately wanted Amy to lose and I definitely don’t cheer on Irish born folk who represent other nations (or those who represented Ireland and switch). I suspect most are the same. Just pointing out that she’ll likely end her “amateur” career now and go pro, where nationality doesn’t really come in to it. She can still be Irish but she’ll be representing team Amy and that’s a harder sell than before (and without an Olympic boost to her profile). I’m with you on the broader point. Paul McGrath is a national treasure. Rhasidat Adeleke is on the way to becoming one. I love that our badminton team is an immigrant from Vietnam and a Protestant from Donegal. All are welcome in Irish sport
  25. Well she’ll still Irish, but if she goes pro she’ll have no appeal. She had 2 chances to qualify for the Olympics and failed. That’s more than most get
