  1. For me, there's only 2 cliff edge "races". Can Spain get 4-500 points from the last two weeks to overtake France for the 5th spot? It probably needs Bilbao/Mas/Landa to win Lombardia. Very unlikely. GB are safe in 4th Currently Eritrea are just a few points ahead of Kazakhstan for 20th/21st. That might go down to the wire Everything else is settled IMO
  2. Rhys in a four way battle for the Olympic spot now. Last year’s silver and bronze as well as Tokyo silver medalist 4 men who think they can win gold here, never mind qualify for the Olympics (Whitlock clearly favourite)
  3. I would say there’s a less than zero chance McIlroy would agree to that. Leona Maguire might be a good shout if you want a golfer to do it. Lowry would absolutely agree to it For me I’d like to see rowing represented for the first time since 1976. Considering she re-started Irish rowing almost single-handedly, I’d give it to Sanita Puspure in her final event (if qualified of course) Boxing have had the last 3(!) so maybe another sport. If going with a male athlete, Mark English would be a good lifetime achievement award and a rep for Athletics
  4. And there's 3 spots at the Pan Am so potentially it could go to 4th place here (among Olympic candidates, if the 3 ahead qualify through pan am)
  5. My scoring stopped with just the last French rider to go.
  6. Ah. of course. I forgot about that! Thanks for the clarification
  7. Italy may have been thrown a lifeline. Although they won't get a quota here, they're ahead of Argentina now. So if Mexico, USA and Brazil are top 3 in Pan America, Italy may sneak in!
  8. I think Tarling wins gold in the men’s TT. Ganna silver and Remco bronze. I think Reusser wins gold in the women’s. Dygart silver and one of the Dutch women wins bronze
  9. I’ll say it again, I don’t see any way GB doesn’t finish in the top 5. It’s between France and Spain for the final spot but both won’t get ahead of GB
  10. I realise some of you traditionalists don’t agree but I really enjoy the kayak cross event
  11. Meanwhile 3 from the slalom canoeists? Don't think many of us saw that coming I thought one (C1) and hoped for men's K1 (as there was 15 spots) but didn't see a women's spot popping up. Great stuff
  12. Interesting one to watch in boxing later today at the tournament in Poland Lisa O'Rourke and Grainne Walsh are in the final against each other. Amy Broadhurst got the nod for the European Games but there's 3 of them going for the one spot there at 66kg
  13. Hengst of Germany was the quickest down but has a 50s penalty. If that is reversed, Slovakia would be out EDIT: Slovakia would get the Euro spot. As it is Germany would get that so not as dramatic as I thought
  14. Quotas (pending appeals) Slovakia get the last spot!
  15. No quota for hanging on by a thread! (appeals pending)
  16. I'm guessing someone here is updating the wikipedia page!
  17. There’s no host quota for c1 events. Only for men and women k1
  18. Women’s K1 too (through the European Games and Madison Corcoran) Nice for her dad Michael who puts a lot of money into Irish canoeing!
  19. I’ve done the maths too. Theres 19 nations left in the wk1 event with 15 quotas on offer France gets the host spot Andorra, USA and Ukraine only have one entrant left and those individuals have qualified in the C1 event so can’t qualify again (they can compete in both in Paris) So the 15 remaining nations get the available quotas Ireland was 15th ranked at European Games but 14 (inc France) have a quota secured so they get the continental spot
  20. Yes, maybe. I didn't even see that they were tied. I was just looking at the front page of the results If gets the quota the next in line from the European games are and
  21. Pending protests here are the men's C1 quotas gets the European Games quota (where they ranked 2nd!)
  22. has the men's C1 quota anyway so we have at least one boat. Phew
