  1. I don't really see a problem with geographical spread of quotas. So what if Australia gets 12 quotas? Not really an issue at all if the 5th best in Europe or Asia miss out. They still have 2 world events to qualify from
  2. Yeah, I understand that. I just mean in general (when you follow as many as we do!)
  3. It is strange seeing a European championship with USA, Brazil, Thailand and more!
  4. For Olympic qualification, here's the scoring in 49er after one race (I've only included the top boat per nation) - 3 - 5 - 6 - 8 - 9 - 11 - 11 - 20 - 21 - 25
  5. 99.99% of Americans and Australians do not care about slalom canoeing or handball. The same applies to India and Turkey That's all I'll say on the matter
  6. Probably more excited than Americans or Australians to be fair
  7. Sure, I just said 60kg as they're first up. Anyway, first 4 boxing quotas (womens 60kg) Beatriz Ferreira of Brazil won silver in Tokyo
  8. Cuba is still in only 4 of the 7 weights for men. Pretty incredible Brazil has all 6 women still in. Colombia has 5/6 Brazil is top for men with 6/7 with the USA on 5/7
  9. First quotas will be decided today (Women's 60kg) Here's how many boxers each nation has remaining in the competition: 12 8 7 5 (!!) 4 3 2 1 2 weights for men (63.5, 71kg) are two wins from a quota. Everyone else is one win from the Olympics
  10. Sure, I found the result. I was just highlighting how poor the results system is.
  11. The results system has the individual scores down here for this boxing bout but hasn’t indicated who won 😂 2-2
  12. Yes, exactly that. For Olympic purposes, the “Road To” page is the one that matters Those who reach the qualifying standard are removed from the rankings (effectively put ahead of those in the rankings in order)
  13. If the EU has to merge, so does NAFTA. Sorry, that’s the rule
  14. It's likely a re-check/re-calibration on earlier results and possible she moved up a spot or two in a race due to someone being excluded (doping).
  15. If you click into an athlete on the UCI ranks, you can see their counting results https://dataride.uci.ch/iframe/RiderRankingDetails/1549446?rankingId=32&groupId=2&momentId=169460&baseRankingTypeId=1&disciplineSeasonId=432&disciplineId=10&categoryId=23&raceTypeId=0&countryId=0&teamId=0
  16. Just to add it's pretty common for some riders to double up on the track and on the road, but individuals don't qualify and while they can compete in both, they can't be added to the quotas secured in either
  17. Track racing is separate and based on countries too So Belgium are likely to qualify in the Madison but it isn't tied to Kopecky. They can choose who they want but no more than 4 can enter in the road race. If Kopecky is one (she will be), then it's on the basis of Belgium qualifying four in the road race, not anything to do with track.
  18. There's no individual qualification for road racing so I'm not sure what you mean by this? Belgium and Poland both have the maximum four based on the world rankings
  19. Sure. There's lots to still be figured out. I don't think anyone can definitively say anything about Russia or Belarus yet (for most sports). The UCI lists them (separately) as ****
  20. Thailand is relatively strong in boxing. They sent a youngish team to the Asian Games and still qualified 4 fighters. I wouldn’t be an expert on them individually but they would all harbour medal hopes
  21. definitely has one spot for women. The results of the final day vaulted is into the top 40
