    Great win for Naeslund, Fanny Smith messed up the antepenultimate jump, just when she wanted to come out of the slipstream for the pass. The moose is happy! Aw, too bad for Davies, was just a little too detached so his last jump charge didn’t get him there. Still, a great day for him.

    Oliver Davies gets a PB in the World Champs, into the Semis for the first time! Favourites are tumbling, so who knows? At the least guarantees Olympic funding. British ski & board technicians obviously got their mojo working this week, we have had great kit all week. Into the Final! We have never ever even had a World Cup podium in this sport!

    Because the French & Italians have very few biathletes, they stick with & develop the same individuals from age 18 to career end. Because the Germans & Russians have a never-drying fountain of young athletes, they waste them.

    That’s a very good point. Lots of them just give up - Julia (?) Döll was promising but gave up at age 24 or so because she was batted between IBU & WC like a table tennis ball.

    Alaphillipe in a last km crash today - got up & finished, so hopefully OK. Ballerini did the double up a sharp climb in the last 50m. Mont Ventoux tomorrow! Well, foothills really. Not all the way up. Sunday is stage 4 of TdProvence & Clasica de Almeria (sprinters’ race).
