    Good to see Breezy Johnson pitching in & making a bit of an effort to repair the fencing after being so selfish and utterly trashing it in the first place! Most of them don’t even bother, just getting a helicopter ride back to their comfortable 5* Hotel Rooms instead.

    On the evidence of the first few weeks of the season, nothing has changed since we went away. Poglučar is the best in long Tours. Sam Bennett is the fastest sprinter. Ganna is the fastest time triallist. van der Poel is the most dangerous in breakaways. (In the absence of the Belgian boy bands) Alaphillippe is the best all-rounder.

Sometimes sport is cruel because no matter how hard you work you can meet something you have never seen before on the day when it matters most. But I am sure that no,matter how disappointed you are now, your determination will make you better in the long run.

    Too bad, but after his sensational run last week, he’s obviously got his eye on higher things. Don’t think we’ll be seeing many star names overall - except , who always put out their best for home events. But it’s good to have an event which is mostly about the youngsters & Pavel Maslák.
