    Now it's confirmed.

Very happy for her. She was like the first reserve in both 2010 and 2014, and this time it almost finished in the same way. Thankfully it didn't!

The Dutch NOC has decided to scrap Nikitina out of the World Cup standings, meaning Bos ends up in 12th place, right inside the required top-12, and she'll go to the Olympics

    that's very good...

predictions are always "at risk" because of their own nature... but, as I wrote a few days ago, there's no way the US team can go that far...even if Zapolski plays the tournament of his life...

and these Canadian players are everything but unknown to us in  Europe...
we regularly follow them in our domestic leagues and they all are very good athletes, used to carry the load and make the difference in their club teams...I'm sure they are good enough to give all of their opponents in South Korea a lot of troubles...
surely a star-studded team like the World Cup (or the Sochi) one, would easily win the Gold Medal, but also this kind of team has quite a chance to comeback home at least with a medal...

don't expect Sweden and Finland (especially the last ones) to be so impressive without all of their NHLers...even if the 3-Kronor in "normal conditions" might (should) still be the strongest rivals of RUS and CAN for the podium places...

What are you talking about, a lack of superstars? NBA legend Michal Jordán is a huge star!

I don’t think we can really predict how the tournament will go, too many unknown. The Canadian team especially is a huge question mark for me. I think the US might be the second favourite behind Russia purely because of goaltending.

Yay!  Was able to get to Korea for the Olympics after all!  Going to be there at the end, got tickets for the women's gold medal hockey game, which should be even more fun because I'm going with an American.  Also got tickets to the men's curling semis the same day.  If Canada's men get to the hockey semis the next day I'll try to get tickets for that, too.  Leaving before the gold medal game, though (stupid work!).  Tried to get short track tickets, but only the super expensive ones are left ($400).  I did finally get to see some short track here in China a couple of months ago, so that'll have to hold me.

So stoked!  Always wanted to go to the Olympics!

Honestly, I couldn't have asked for a better TOP 3 today and I can't wait for the press conference Also, the way that Canadian girls ran out to congratulate Rosanna was soooo cute

I think preserving the integrity and identity of the Winter Olympics is important. Besides, I don't see how expanding the Winter Games will help with the allready very critical lack of bidding cities,

If moving around some summer sports is an option, I'd very much favor the introduction of a third season; the Fall Indoor Games or something. We would have 16 months between each Olympics then (Summer -> Winter -> Fall).

Yes, the exact same athletes are competing in Slopestyle and Big Air (for all countries, not just Canada). Qualification is based on the combined ranking of both events.

Yea the summer Olympics have much more wtf and boring sports than the Winter ones. The Winter Olympics are much more exciting to watch.

From a Canadian perspective, Erik Guay and Manuel Osborne-Paradis finishing 1-3 in the Super-G at the World Championships.

From a neutral point of view, the British team winning the men’s 4x100m world title in front of their home crowd.

From a “I hate my life” point of view, the New England Patriots winning their fifth Super Bowl, the first one to ever go into overtime.

    This!

On another site I chose 3 highlights earlier:

    1. Lowell Bailey winning individual gold at the biathlon world champs, after having decided to continue until the Olympics instead of retire and go bison farming (this plus Bailey being a total outsider instead of someone who often wins and being one of the most well-liked and friendly guys on the circuit)
    2. Trinidad & Tobago beating out dominant USA in the men's 4x400m at the athletics world champs
    3. Takuma Sato winning the Indy 500, Fernando Alonso having an epic debut

As worst moment and definitely a memorable one, I chose Usain Bolt's injury in his very last race. Like Bolt, don't like Bolt, but seeing a legend end his career in that way was most certainly....memorable. At least in my memory it dominated that race so much that I only last month realized I had already completely forgotten GBR won a historic gold in that 4x100 seconds later.
