  1. The Russians are probably fuming of anger that someone else dared to win in their own sport. The "offending" judges may expect a nice package in the mail with some polonium (a la Litvinenko) or Novichok (a la Skripal)....
  2. Probably both of you were right. Brundage was a horrible person even to his day's standards (so by not judging someone by the standards of our day), and Samaranch (together with Nebiolo and their "shared" business cronies) did a lot of damage due to extreme corruption and tolerance of widespread doping (not only in the communist bloc) ed: sorry I see that he talks about Brundage's immediate sucessor. My comment about Samaranch still stands, but of course he was not weak and ineffective.
  3. I looked it up back to '48. Excluding Moscow, they won only 400 hurdles in '76, but no post 1948 Olympics when they did not win at least one gold on mens track (including hurdles).
  4. Probably this pole vault is the first time during the athletics competition when I am glad that won On the other hand, no individual gold medal for them in men's track events (and only 1 chance left in the relay). When did this last happen?
  5. Wow again 3 4th places by very small margins for We will be up in the 4th place counter
  6. Should I now complain that the competitor only won because of doping? /sarcasm
  7. By the way, how did he react to team pursuit gold? (With a WR)
  8. Wow, Nowicki is like a slingshot in this final. And its only the 3rd attempt...
  9. Poor KJT. It seems not only we have such an unlucky Olympics (not in athletics of course, the results of athletics team are only slightly worse than expected)
  10. But we forgot to ask the key question: who is doping here? /sarcasm
  11. There is a doping cases and bans thread for each year AFAIK somewhere in the forum.
  12. That's a different point about an individual athlete. But in case of the commenter in question, who seems to carpet-bomb with doping accusations throughout the forum.
  13. Agree. Would be interested to know whether he has ever accused German competitors of doping. Just for the sake of consistency To be fair, at least in the case of long jump he did not imply that the medallists did finish as they did because of doping.
  14. On Eurosport they said she refused to board the plane and will get political asylum in either Austria or the Czech Republic.
  15. Probably Thiago will explain this more professionally this is copied from Wikipedia: In the vault final, Carey finished eighth. In the running phase of her first vault, Carey was off on her steps and performed only a tucked Yurchenko, a vault with a difficulty score of 3.3. She went on and successfully performed her second vault, an Amanar with a difficulty of 5.8, but was deducted two point points for performing two vaults with the same entry and for performing two backwards rotating vaults. The expert on Eurosport said that a less experienced vaulter might have crashed into or under the vaulting table instead (if I remember correctly)
  16. just carries on! Good job, @hckoĆĄice
  17. Miracle within reach for . Hope he does not sc**** it up in the last race after having done all the heavy lifting...
  18. I am a biased fan but somehow I felt that it is going to be 1-2-3. But with OR at the first place? Wow!
  19. Poetic justice for the 'Muricans, I may add.
  20. Slovenia is currently at 4 medals with 2 gold. Only once they won more than 4 (2008) but then it was only 1 gold. So 1 medal is missing to be this the most successful OG of all time for both in terms of gold medals and total medals. And the great Janja Garnbret is still to come in climbing.
  21. Now Petterson answers to Ceh with 67.39 moving to second
  22. Now in bronze position, 4cm ahead of the second Swede, Petersson.
