  1. It happened in the Mixed and Single Mixed Relays again today. Lots of lapped teams. There were 9 teams lapped in the Single Mixed relay, including four who did not get off their first biathlete. How in the world is Brazil going to be able to compete Erdal? The mixed relay had 8 of the 19 get lapped. 5 teams did not get off the women. I know I have ranted about this before, but if the IBU Cup is about development, don't pull people out after they are lapped.
  2. Could anyone get the Eurovision stream to work today? On mine it looks like nothing has been updated since Pre-Christmas.
  3. Great weekend of races. What a beautiful location. I loved seeing Lena going for it, and the fans eating it up. Deedra Irwin coming through for the US!
  4. Results for the Mixed They allowed the lapped teams to compete for a while. Kudos to Spain for sticking finishing the race. Maybe being "lapped" meant that there was not another biathlete. I am glad that they did not pull them out immediately. There was about 1 min different at the 1.2 km mark. For many of these Juniors, these are their development races, and as such, if they do not race here, they will not race. Here are the exchanges:
  5. I am not sure that all 35 will start, but the fact that there 35 potential teams is great news.
  6. There are 30 teams scheduled for the Mixed Relay for the Juniors. There are 35 teams for the single Mixed Relay.
  7. I think that the Big globe will be more of a Survivor test. Too bad that Lenzerheide might look look more like a IBU Cup than a World Cup.
  8. Wow, that was a tough day for the US. The women's team did not have enough to race due to illness and the men's team struggled, a lot.
  9. Fun two races today. Great to see Haecki-Gross ski smart and shoot really well.
  10. The single-mixed saw 23 teams start. 2 were lapped prior to the first exchange and one pulled out. 1 more was lapped prior to exchange 2. 4 more prior to Exchange 3. I know I sound like a bad record, but how does this help develop the depth and experience needed. I know there are technical issues with changes the targets, but there should be a way to figure this out.
  11. Only 9 of the 22 teams finished the Mixed Relay. 22-15 were lapped prior to the men skiing. I wish on the IBU Cup being lapped in the relay did not force you to be removed. How can the later biathletes ever get a chance to develop. I can see a similar thing happening in the single-mixed in a few minutes.
  12. Despite the really poor shooting by Jake Brown, I am excite for the potential that the US team has. Add Paul Schommer back in trimester two and they can be good.
  13. Good day for the US men with Bonacci in 6th and Luke Brown in 28th. No surprise that 5 of the top 10 were Norwegians.
  14. That was quite shocking to see how poor she shot. It was an interesting race and many did not shoot well. It was amazing how poor Czech Republic shot, but that they were still near the front of the race.
  15. I think that it will be too early to see if the Floro ban is a major issue. We will need to see it in a warmer, wetter race.
  16. Good final leg from Simon. Sweden put a very strong team and it showed. Pretty pleased with the US result of 8th place. Only 8 misses and no penalty loops. Greenland were the last to be lapped.
  17. Greenland will have a single-mixed team for the first time in history! I do wonder if the equalization of the distances for the single-mixed and mixed relays will result in more teams being lapped. That is going to be an interesting thing to watch during the season. I wish they would let the relays go until the last leg before they would be removed.
  18. Yes, the full ban goes into effect this season.
  19. Interesting article about the races in Norway. It alludes to the fact that without flo in the waxes, the skill and magic of waxing will become more apparent. Norway has a massive advantage here and we might see an even greater domination here. Also a big blow to the US Men's team. This was posted last night.
  20. Idre Fjäll - Schedule 11 November 10h00 : Short Individual 15 km men 12h15 : Short Individual 12,5 km women 12 November 10h00 : 10 km Sprint Men 12h00 : 7,5 km Sprint Women All times local. I do hope that they will broadcast them.
  21. Canada actually had their first on snow race of the season at Canmore this weekend. It is so nice to see races on snow!
  22. There is a super cool 6 part documentary about the Swedish Biathlon 2022-2023 season. There is an English translation in subtitles. I just finished it, it was really well done and insightful. Great way to prepare for the season.
  23. Another early biathlon pioneer has died. Victor Mamatov, a double Olympic champion (1968, 1972) in the 4×7.5 km relay and a quadruple world champion (1967, 1969, 1970, 1971) passed away this week. He also had a long tenure as the VP of the IBU from 1993-2002. Tough week for older biathletes in Russia.
  24. J.T. Boe bitten by a snake. Martin Ponsiluoma fell and was injured.
