Speed Skating Canada has just announced the composition of their 2021-2022 Special Olympic Qualification Competitions - (SOQC) Racing Pool Composition 
 
The members of the SOQC Racing Pool will represented Canada on the World Cup circuit this fall. They’ll put themselves in contention for the Beijing 2022 team based on their performances at those four World Cup competitions, which are scheduled for Beijing (CHN) and Nagoya (JPN) in October, and Debrecen (HUN) and Dordrecht (NED) in November.

Six Skaters Selected to World Cup Racing Pool
The three highest ranked skaters per gender earned an automatic berth on the Special Olympic Qualification Competitions (SOQC) Racing Pool, the group of skaters that will represent Canada on the World Cup circuit this fall.
 
The remaining three places per gender in the SOQC Racing Pool will be awarded in accordance to the criteria established in the 2022 Short Track Olympic Selection Policies and Procedures, which can be simplified as the following:  
 
Maximum of two places can be filled via accepted bye requests from injured skaters Additional places can be filled by the winners of each individual distance (if applicable) OR the fourth ranked skater in the overall rankings The remaining places can be filled by discretionary selections (a maximum of two)

Quite happy with the outcome of these qualification tournaments tbh. Slovakia and Latvia have some of the best hockey fans in the world and Denmark is by far the best hockey nation that had never qualified for the Olympics.

I believe after 2002 is when the IOC started issuing qualifying standards/quotas for winter sports. I'd guess the drop to 14 was partly to cut quotas and to standardize with all other team sports except soccer.

To reply to your question in another thread, the answer is no. In the team prediction contests, the only placement match that will be counted, if played, is the third-place match.

Impressive performance from Jéssica Messali in Triathlon PTWC (4th place finish), especially considering what she endured in the last two months (third degree burns in her feet at the start of July, which led to 10 surgical procedures in 25 days and loss of 6 toes).

Just saw a post on social media about the insane score line of the  v.  match the U16 Americas Women’s Championship and thought it was worth posting the score. The final score of that quarterfinal match was 121-12 in favor of , that’s a margin of victory by 109 points

Also hurting is the fact that one of our biggest ever medalists (André Brasil) was recently considered ineligible for Paralympic swimming which has ended his career.

FreeStyle Canada Team for 2021-22 Season (The Olympics selection is based on 2021-22 World Cup Season Result, Canada have full team for Moguls, Slopestyle/BigAir, Half Pipe and Aerial + Ski Cross (4 men/4womens) but the quota max is 30 for team for all Free Style Event
