  1. WTA 250 ASBC Classic | Auckland, New Zealand Women’s Singles 1. Coco Gauff 2. Elina Svitolina 3. Emma Navarro 3. Wang Xiyu Gauff defends her title from 2022, coming back from down a set to win in three against Svitolina, who’s had a incredibly successful post-pregnancy comeback. First tournament back for Emma Raducanu (Stuttgart Open) and Amanda Anisimova (Madrid Open), both managing to register one win each (Anisimova beat Pavlyuchenkova, and Raducanu beat Ruse). Really impressed with Raducanu’s return in particular, first two sets in her match against Svitolina in the R16 was some high-level tennis, but unfortunately ran out of gas by the end of the second set. Raducanu was actually up 5-1 in the first set, with multiple set points, eventually taking the set at 7-6 (5). Maybe if she’d have closed out the first set earlier, the third set would’ve been more competitive, but I guess we’ll never know. Raducanu needs to get more matches in, and more fitness work done during training. Women’s Doubles 1. Anna Danilina/Viktória Hrunčáková @hckošice 2. Bethanie Mattek-Sand/Marie Bouzková 3. 8. Good news as a Canucks fan, with Lekkerimäki being named as the tournament MVP! Maybe we’ll see him get some playing time this NHL season.

  11. As reported earlier, I’ll be going to Rio and Sao Paolo in mid-June. Also, it’s my last day in Bergen (and on my European trip), as I leave early afternoon tomorrow.
  12. Probably either the Gangwon YOG, or the Canadian Olympic Swimming Trials. But there’s also VNL, all the various tennis slams, Short Track Speed Skating Worlds, 3x3 Basketball OQTs, and X Games Aspen.

    X Games

Entry lists for X Games 2024 Aspen: https://www.xgames.com/events/x-games-aspen-2024/event-athletes As always, lot’s of big names competing. Yiming, Gu, Ledeux, Kleveland, Sadowski-Synott, Gasser, McMorris, Gerard, Hasegawa, Kim, Gremaud, Porteous, Ragettli, Forehand, MacKay, Ruud, and Hirano are some of the many highlights.
  14. @Ogreman where would Sara Kali be in the women’s 66kg rankings? She actually won the Canadian Boxing Trials for the first World Qualifier, although if she can’t book her ticket there, Cavanaugh will have another chance in a head-to-head battle for a spot at the second World Qualifier.
  15. Can feel your pain Letting a goal in with 11 seconds left in the third period is just pathetic.
  16. Here’s an incredible slice from Raducanu, felt it deserved a share.
  17. Emma Raducanu won her first match back post injury (Stuttgart Open) defeating Elena Gabriela Ruse in 3 sets at the Auckland Open. Up next, she’ll get Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16.
  18. Another podium for Abigail Strate, as she wins silver in women’s large hill at the Oberstdorf WC!
  19. @Olympian1010 small correction, we’re actually not the last time zone to reach 2024 (I’m pretty sure you and I are both PST), as HST (Hawaii Standard Time) is two hours behind us
  20. Abigail Strate with her second career WC medal, as she wins bronze in women’s large hill at the Oberstdorf WC!
  21. Happy Olympic Year to all my fellow Totallympians, can’t wait for Paris 2024! Hard to follow what @Olympian1010 just wrote, but here we go. What a year it’s been, from Niklas Edin’s iconic (once in a lifetime) curling shot, to Joan Verdu making history for Andorra in alpine skiiing by becoming the first from his country to stand on a podium in a winter Olympic sport, to MVDP’s fall in the men’s road race but soon after recovers to win gold at the Cycling World Championships, to some of my more personal highlights, like Canada’s surprise qualification for Paris in men’s volleyball (I still thank Bulgaria to this day), Connor Bedard’s 23 points at the Hockey World Juniors, to Vancouver Canucks’s unexpected early season success, and finally Canada’s qualification for Paris men’s basketball for the first time since 2000. Right, now time for my express my thanks to some of the users on here. @Olympian1010@Cobi thank you for another great year of TISC (even though I didn’t participate), @hckošice @maestro@phelps@Topicmaster1010@Benolympique@Cinnamon Bun (might be missing some) for your sporting updates, @heywoodu for never failing to make me laugh (seriously), @hckošice@vinipereira for your top notch moderation and keeping this site a safe place for others, @Wumo for all the fun prediction contests, (This year I ended up winning 1 gold, and 1 bronze in 8 contests entered, pretty horrible by my standards), @Laraja for all your work on the various Olympic/Paralympic Rankings. A special thanks to @Sindo for keeping this forum up and running, your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. And finally, thank you to everyone who has contributed to this forum this year. May your 2024 be filled with health, happiness, and a whole lot of Olympic quotas/medals
  22. Today, men’s/women’s mass starts at the Toblach Cross Country Skiing WC, and the men’s large hill at the Garmisch Ski Jumping WC. Also on my schedule for this week is curling, club season volleyball, more cross country skiing and ski jumping, Buffalo Bills v. Miami Dolphins (NHL), all Vancouver Canucks and Golden State Warriors games (unfortunately for me, both are almost always on at the same time, so it’s hard to follow both all the time), ATP/WTA United Cup and ATP/WTA Brisbane International, European Speed Dkating Championships, Men’s WTT Table Tennis Finals, and the World Junior Hockey Championships (all Canada matches, and the gold medal match even if Canada isn’t playing in it)
  23. Mixed Doubles Super Series Oakville, Ontario, Canada Mixed Doubles 1. Tori Koana/Go Aoki 2. Chiaki Matsumura/Yasumasa Tanida 3. Alina Patz/Sven Michel 3. Cory Thiesse/Korey Dropkin Full Results
  24. I know the vote is already over, but I also wanted to highlight Joan Verdu’s bronze in men’s giant slalom at the Val D’Isere WC for Andorra’s first ever podium in an Winter Olympic discipline!
