  1. That is correct, because if Germany loses to Australia and Brazil, they’d at worst finish at 1-2 but with the head-to-head win over Serbia.
  2. Nice bronze for Lauriane Genest in the keirin as well! On a side note, anybody know why Kelsey Mitchell wasn’t competing? Our position in the women’s team sprint Olympic rankings is very vulnerable (mind you Canada still hasn’t competed in their Continental Championships, while other nations have), and Mitchell would’ve been a nice boost to bettering our 6th place finish.
  3. If she’s back to her 2018 form, sure, but I’d wait to see her routines and scores before coming to that conclusion.
  4. While Nigeria hasn’t mathematically secured a quota yet, with that win have essentially qualified for Paris. A Senegal loss tomorrow, which seems highly likely, would clinch it for them.
  5. Day 1 Results Xian, China 40-88 94-47 Soprom, Hungary 75-86 67-55 Belem, Brazil 73-66 55-60 Antwerp, Belgium 65-72 81-79 Belem has such a stacked group, shame that one of those teams will miss out on Paris. Other than Japan’s win over Spain, no real upsets today. Didn’t come out on the winning end, but surprised that Brazil kept it close against the Opals, and the same for Belgium against the United States.
  6. Thought wins were 2 points for a moment, ignore me.
  7. Isn’t already qualified? Both and can’t get 4 points, if I’m not mistaken.
  8. I don’t. Sure, she might be in contention for the gold medal, but this event collides with the 200m IM final (mind you both are on the final day of racing, where McIntosh would’ve had a three day break at that point) and her schedule would be pretty busy otherwise. Racing in 4 individual events, and 1-2 relays in 1 1/2 weeks would get you physically (and probably mentally) exhausted. I’m not sure she could handle another 600m added to her Olympic program, especially considering the fact that she’s also the current gold medal favourite in the 200IM.
  9. Accidentally posted it in the wrong thread @Topicmaster1010
  10. Summer McIntosh clocks a 8:11.27 in the women’s 800m freestyle at the Southern Zone South Selection Championships! 16th fastest performance all-time in essentially her 6th or 7th strongest event (the 15 before her are all Ledecky marks), and 2nd fastest performer all-time now, this time would’ve been enough to win gold at Tokyo 2020! She absolutely demolished THE Katie Ledecky (8:17.12), and became the first person in over 13 years to defeat her in a women’s 800m freestyle final! (Ledecky was 3rd 2010 Potomac Valley Championships, unsure as to who beat her) We’re witnessing a generation talent in the making. I can’t wait for Paris. I’d be highly surprised to her racing in this event at Trials/Olympics though, she doesn’t seem to enjoy racing distance free, and the final conflicts with the 200m IM Olympic final. She’ll probably race 4 individual events (women’s 200m IM/400m IM/400m FR/200m FL) and 1-2 relays at Paris (probably the women’s 4x100m FR and the 4x200FR) anything more than that seems unlikely given her schedule at recent meets.
  11. 67-55 win over Hungary to start off the women’s basketball Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Sopron, Hungary. Not a great win, but I’ll take it.
  12. A THREE!! FINALLY!! Now 1/12
  13. Still no 3 pointers for with less than two minutes left in the third period. Making free throws has been somewhat of an issue today as well. with a 13 point lead (50-37) over with 1:42 left in the third period.
  14. Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray are heading to Paris, winning a quota in men’s 10m synchro through the World Aquatic Championships!
  15. /s? They were expected to qualify, not sure how it was surprising.
  16. Yup, you’re right. I completely forgot about Austria’s duet quota at the European Games My point still stands though.
  17. Whole bunch of National Championships are going on right now. Nationals finished half a week ago, with Team Peterson and Team Shuster winning the women’s and men’s titles. So did the Nationals, where Team Hasselborg and Team Nyman (Team Edin was absent) won the women’s and men’s titles. Nationals are on currently, live stream here But the big one is, Women’s Nationals in a week. I’ll try my best to find a stream for the event, but I’m not very optimistic that I’ll eventually find one. @maestro @Grassmarket
  18. Fair, but Greece also hasn’t been in the best of form at this tournament. That being said, they could certainly up their level of play heading into the knockouts.
  19. I would agree. Despite Hungary winning their group, they’re most likely going to take on Netherlands in the quarterfinals, very tough match for them but a win for them is doable. For Canada, they’re most likely going to be the ones to face Spain in the quarterfinals, don’t see an upset happening. Probably (and hopefully) it’ll come down to the 5-8th place brackets to determine who qualifies for Paris.
