I think athletes just started doing it on purpose, banking on that the judges will never have the balls to DQ everyone in the Top 10 or something. Not doing anything is the least scandalous option, s funny as it is, but yeah, these judges stand to lose their job if race walking falls under severe scrutiny.

Yeah, race walking was less predictable 20+ years ago. Korzeniowski being DQ 400 meters from the 1992 OG 50km finish or Segura DQ after he "won" 20km gold medal in Sydney 2000

Kaczmarek is not second string. The plan was to run her & Kielbasinska in the final but due to the rules Kielbasinska also had to run in the SF which she refused hence Baumgart was there and Swiety run both SF & F.
