Wumo got a reaction from thepharoah in Asian Games 2018
This may not be so sports related, but it is related to Asian Games:
Four Japanese basketball players, (Yuya Nagayoshi, Takuya Hashimoto, Takuma Sato, Keita Imamura), have been sent home after they have been spotted in Jakarta's "red light district" allegedly enjoying some female "company".

Another crazy thing is they actually considered to stop their partnership because the results wasn't good enough. They played a tournament with new partners in June, but started to play together again the next tournament.

Another victory for Mol/Sorum in Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals.
They have now won their last 4 tournaments: 5-star Gstaad, European Championship, 5-star Vienna and now the World Tour Finals in Hamburg.
They have won 253.000 $ in the last four consecutive tournaments which is a new record, beating Karch Kiraly and Kent Steffes record from 1993-1994
They have also won 24 of their last 25 matches including a winning streak of 22 matches

It's not my first time My spanish teacher loved this song so much. She said she liked the melody, but we all knew she had a crush on Enrique Iglesias

Wumo got a reaction from dareza in Men's Tennis Davis Cup 2018
It's now official
https://www.daviscup.com/en/news/290057.aspx
"From 2019, the competition will see 18 nations compete in a week long season finale to be crowned Davis Cup champions. The first edition of the new event will be held in Madrid or Lille from 18-24 November, with the inaugural host city to be announced soon.
The Davis Cup Finals will be held in a round robin format from Monday to Thursday, with the countries divided into six groups and each qualifying round consisting of three matches – two singles and one doubles – of best-of-three sets. The first placed teams from each group and the two best runners-up will reach the quarterfinals on Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will host the semifinals and the final. The two worst qualified teams from the round robin stage will be relegated to the Zone Groups for the following year and the rest of the nations that did not qualify for the semifinals will have to participate in February's qualifying round the following season".

Weirdly enough, according to Heritage, an American conservative public policy think tank, Denmark is a more economic free (capitalistic) country than USA. Denmark is 12 and USA is 18 For your information, Venezuela is number 179 out of 180. At least they are higher than North Korea

Wumo got a reaction from heywoodu in Orienteering IOF World Championships 2018
Thoughts about men's and women's middle distance:
(This will be a bit shorter, than last update)
Women's middle distance:
Before I come to the podium I first have to comment on a certain swedish woman. Tove Alexandersson is the talk of the town after her race. She made som HUGE mistakes in the beginning of the race. These mistakes costed her the chance for a podium place, so the dream of becoming the first woman/athlete to win 5 medals at the same WCH is over.
Now to a more happier note, the podium. Nathalia Gemperle won her first individual gold medal after an impressive run. Another first time was the woman on the second place, Marika Teini. She also won her first individual medal in her career. All good things come in threes, also this podium. Isia Basset was the third woman, who could celebrate her first individual medal, which also was her first medal at a WCH. Her name will also be part of French Orienteering history by becoming the first French female runner to win a medal at a WCH.
Men's middle distance.
Where there is a forest, there is always someone from Norway winning a medal. Not surprinsingly, Norway shows their strenght when the distance is middle or long. This time it was Eskil Kinneberg who ran a well-deserved gold medal home to the land of fjords. He won his first medal at a WCH, and why not start with a gold. Daniel Hubmann continues his reign as King of Swiss orieentering by winning a new medal, this time silver. The bronze went to fellow Swiss competitor, Florian Howald, who continued the trend of the day by winning his first individual medal a WCH.
The theme or trend of the day is first-time medallists. We have more races today. The relays are on the program. The women's relay is already over, and the men's are still going at the moment, so we will know the result in about half an hour.
I will post the results from today's races when the men's relay is over, and I will come with an update, hopefully, before the long distance for men and women on saturday.

Okay, I'M SORRY. This evening, I can't, too much emotions I don't remember the last time that I felt like this, two very similar scenarios, two very different outcomes. One very talented young lady - Liveta Jasiūnaitė saving the day for Lithuania and winning an extremely unexpected bronze medal, but a medal that means so so so much. Seeing a medal from someone other than Gudžius or Palšytė means trumendously for Lithuania, this is one of the most successful European Championships for us. I'm extremely happy with what I got to experience today and this is one of the days that'll stick with me for my entire life, just like Athens 2004 with Skujytė
