GRANDE LORA Still can't believe this actually happened.
No one was of course expecting to medal in biathlon, one of the most competitive winter sports. A regular top 10 seemed impossible with the awful season we were having.
Even our commentator, who is one of the best sporting journalists we have period, and has commentated biathlon for over 20 years was very emotional and started crying. He said, he never believed he would get the chance to commentate an Olympic medal for in his lifetime, as he wasn't on deck in 1998 & 2002, but here we are.
Also, damn you Frenchies, couldn't you miss some more once in a while

Sometimes fate arranges itself in such a way that everything seems predestined. Bulgarian Olympic champion Ekaterina Dafovska awarded Bulgarian bronze medalist Lora Hristova exactly 28 years and 2 days after her victory in Nagano, Japan

What a day! Seeing Bruna compete and fulfill her Olympic dream...wow, just, wow
We managed to get the large army of Swedes behind us to cheer specifically for her too, so that was awesome! And by some coincidence, we had a few Dutch people behind us
After the qualifying, Duda (the other Brazilian) and her family came up to the grandstand and sat right in front of us. She had a good race and beat Bruna, so congrats to her. Unlike Duda, Bruna had quite a lot of large interviews with media ranging from Brazilian to Dutch so it took a lot longer for her to reach the grandstands, but she was in time to watch the quarters all the way up to the finals. Tears flowed when she reached us as a freshly minted Olympian
I told her Duda was sitting right in front of us (she hadn't noticed), so - sportsmanship being her thing - she of course went immediately up to her to congratulate her. Duda's face turned into the most foul mooded face I have ever seen anyone have immediately and they literally immediately afterwards left
There's an insane amount of action on Bruna's instagram at the moment (lots of interviews and stuff). Maybe some on Duda's as well, but I'm not sure, as - like Bruna - I am blocked by her for whatever reason, so no idea

An amazing experience at the short track venue. I had hoped Canada would win gold, but the second best option happened (the home team winning).
And as I mentioned in the Canada forum, I got to meet the Canadian men's hockey team and I briefly chatted with Sidney Crosby.

Just rewinded the stream a little, focused on too many things at once, Botn pointing towards the sky in honor of Bakken was beautiful

Draw for the 5.000m Men (tomorrow 16:00 local time) is out: https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/results/ssk/st/m/5000m-------------/fnl-/000100--/race-result
After Lollobrigida’s incredible performance today, it’s honestly getting hard to bet against the Italians on home ice. That said, I still think Ghiotto’s real shot at Gold is the 10km, leaving the 5km wide open for some "untraditional" countries.
It’s truly bizarre to look at a start list and realize that a Czech teenager and a Frenchman are the heavy medal favorites, while the Dutch, who used to own this distance, can barely be called outsiders anymore. If you had told me a few years ago that this would be the state of the 5000m, I wouldn’t have believed it.
My prediction for tomorrow:
Sander Eitrem - The heavy favorite after shattering the World Record this season with a historic 5:58.52. Timothy Loubineaud - A massive challenger who briefly held the World Record himself earlier this season with a 6:00.23. Metoděj Jílek - A serious gold medal contender, but I’m worried this is the first time he’ll truly feel the weight of expectations from his home country after his breakout results. Casey Dawson - A podium regular this year who is a strong contender for the top five. Ted-Jan Bloemen - The veteran master of the long distances who always finds an extra gear on the big stage. Davide Ghiotto - Facing massive home-crowd pressure in Milan to keep up with the younger generation. Chris Huizinga - Currently looks like the strongest hope for the Dutch guard. Alexander Farthofer - A rising talent who has successfully pushed his way into the top tier this season. Riccardo Lorello - Another Italian hope looking to capitalize on the home-ice advantage. Gabriel Groß - A solid mid-pack contender who has delivered reliable results throughout the winter. Fridtjof Petzold - Has shown steady improvement and is now occasionally a fixture in the top half of the field. Marcel Bosker - Started the season incredibly strong at the Dutch Championships, but hasn't reached that level since. Michele Malfatti - A home favorite who has been hovering just outside the lead group all season. Bart Swings - His legendary engine remains world-class, but his main focus is on the mass start. Felix Maly - A consistent performer who provides a solid benchmark for the field. Sigurd Henriksen - Part of the deep Norwegian squad with the potential to surprise if others slip up. Stijn van de Bunt - A massive breakout talent, but the Olympic depth makes moving up a huge challenge. Shomu Sasaki - A promising young skater gaining valuable experience on the world stage. Liu Hanbin - Honestly surprised to see him on the start list after that tough injury. It will be a victory just to finish. Peder Kongshaug - Finished dead last in his only A-group appearance this season and hasn't raced a competitive 5k in months. He's a 1500m specialist who might lack the form for this distance right now. -

Give it 40 minutes or so and we can add +1 skier in the Predazzo Olympic village
Accreditation received as well, and now we understand what the team manager meant a few days ago with "I have no fork and knife"....that's the symbol on the accreditation to show you can use the dining area (which Bruna has, of course)

Wumo reacted to JoshMartini007 in Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Qualifying Simulation
To revive some discussion here, I did my own qualifying simulation, here's a Google sheet of the team sizes (and discipline breakdown).
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W2TihYgttZ3O64VNUzJsonRIkUlz7vJdL0Ago6bJOpg/edit?usp=sharing
Some notes:
- Qualification was simulated based on the most current qualification document (2028 or 2024) available. For new events I went by as much information available, upholding the Olympic values for diversity.
- This was based by the current performance of athletes/teams. Injured athletes or athletes which took a year off were not considered. This will given future updates a more dynamic feeling.
- Until we receive an update from the IOC, Belarussian and Russian athletes will be considered if the sport federation currently allows them to compete.
- As with previous Olympics, refugee athletes will be given extra quotas to compete unless qualified normally.
- For tripartite quotas, I generally gave it to the best eligible athlete. In reality, this doesn't always happen as it is application based so a lower ranked athlete may be given the quota or a reallocation may occur.
Over the next week I'll take a deeper dive into these numbers for some interesting facts.

Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2025
Thank you all so much for the love and support you have shown throughout my organisation of this TISC. I am so grateful to be part of this community
It's also heartwarming to see TISC come back again after a hiatus and I hope we can keep the tradition alive.
Once again, congratulations to my fellow medal winners and on maginificent silver and bronze medals
A huge thank you to all who voted for Kingfishr and I am beyond happy to see how well this song was received and it truly exceeded any of my expectations. So thank you all so much
But the biggest thanks is to all who participated in another TISC and allowed us to listen to music from across the world and have lots of fun along the way. I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks a TISC Grand Final Day is special.
I need a little bit of time now to catch my breath again. In the meantime, I leave you with your TISC Annual 2025 champions, Kingfishr

Thank you Canada! Bulgaria gets the last 12 points of this year's TISC Annual! Congratulation!
Almost no points at all for any of the top 10 songs in that final vote but that doesn't matter to Spain as they hang on to claim a precious bronze medal finish!
And there you have it, our TISC Annual 2025 podium is complete! Give it up for our 3 medalists!!
Ireland - Gold
Italy - Silver
Spain - Bronze
Spain's bronze medal means it is the second time they have finished on the TISC podium following their victory in TISC Annual 2022! @Cobi
Italy claim their 7th podium in TISC history and are silver medalists for a 3rd time! @Pablita@Gianlu33@Henry_Leon@SteveParker
