[FANTASY CONTESTS] Biathlon Manager Game Discussion Thread
Wumo replied to Wumo's topic in Totallympics Prediction Contests
Well, I don't have any autographs from any real athlete. My friend's autograph from when he was 9 years old doesn't count, because you know, he wasn't a real athlete. However, I did appreciate it at that time. -
I have joined. We can create a private league, or if it is just you and me, a duel between or club/team. My username is of course, Wumo and my club/team is Latający Duńczycy. I hope this means "Flying Danes or the Flying Danes" in Polish? One question, @Vojthas. Do you have one or more teams?

[FANTASY CONTESTS] Biathlon Manager Game Discussion Thread
Wumo replied to Wumo's topic in Totallympics Prediction Contests
Strange, maybe. Complicated, indeed. This season of BMG will very much be used as sort of a prototype to see what works and doesn't. I'm curious to see which biathletes benefit most from this point system? -
[FANTASY CONTESTS] Biathlon Manager Game Discussion Thread
Wumo replied to Wumo's topic in Totallympics Prediction Contests
I'm sorry, I have not responed before now. To answer your questions: 1) It will be much more clear when I open the Biathlon Manager Game Thread. 3f, now been changed to 3e) I know it's not so clear, but what I write is what I mean. An example to clarify. J.T. Boe scores 150 points in the first WC round. You would like to earn some points via the transfer system, so you choose to "sell" J. T. Boe. You then choose to "buy" L. Hofer for your team to replace J. T. Boe. Hofer scored 80 points in the first WC round. The difference is +70 points (150-80), so 70 points are added to your total score. Let's say your 10 biathletes have scored a total of 670 points after the first WC round. You decide to make the aforementioned transfer. Your total score will then be 740 (670+70) when the second WC round starts. I hope this has clarified how the transfer system works. And yes, I'm a bit crazy. Or that is what some of my friends tell me when I come up with ideas like these. Anyhow, thanks for the good luck. I probably need it. To all, I have deleted some paragraphs in the rules. Nothing drastically, the point system is still the same. @heywoodu I don't know what the price could be? Maybe a personal autograph from a certain Brazilian female biathlete? According to my knowledge, you seem to know one very well. -

Today, an unsual event in Danish sports and ice hockey happened. Ice hockey player, Kristian Jensen, who plays in the Danish Ice Hockey League for Frederikshavn White Hawks, was found guilty of violence - in having given a player a severe blow to the head during a match in September. He got a suspended sentenced of 20 days in prison for his action. It's very rare a violent action during a sport match in up in court in Denmark and a player/athlete gets a sentence. The court was aware that the ice hockey player had already been severely sanctioned by the Danish Ice Hockey Union by giving him a 17-match suspension. However, the general justice system must intervene in such situation, it was stated from the court. - The legal order must provide protection next to the ice hockey system, said judge, Jeanette Thørholm Andersen, as she presented the grounds for the verdict You can watch the episode below:

https://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/17-totallympics-international-song-contest-discussion/&do=findComment&comment=188978 Ireland could give the hosting rights to USA for TOISC 2018 because at that time the rules above was not in the TISC rulebook. After TOISC 2018 in USA, the rules for section 9 in the TISC rulebook was changed from this: SECTION 9 - FUTURE HOSTING RIGHTS: 9. (a) Upon completion of the relevant song contest, the winning nation will automatically be awarded the rights to host the subsequent Totallympics International Song Contest 1 year later. 9. (b) If the winning nation wishes to decline the hosting duties, a discussion will be raised in the relevant TISC thread to discuss hosting options and allowing users to put forward their bid to become the next hosts. To this: SECTION 9 - FUTURE HOSTING RIGHTS: 9. (a) Upon completion of the relevant song contest, the winning nation will automatically be awarded the rights to host the subsequent Totallympics International Song Contest 1 year later. 9. (b) If the winning nation wishes to decline the hosting duties, the runner-up of that edition will then be awarded the opportunity to accept or decline the hosting rights. If the runner-up also declines the hosting duties, the 3rd placed nation of that edition will have the opportunity to accept or decline the hosting rights. 9. (c) In the event that the hosting rights are declined by the top 3 ranked nations at the previous edition of the relevant TISC, an open bid process will be conducted in order to award the hosting rights. This process will be open to all candidates, first-time hosts as well as previous hosts. A random draw will take place with each candidate being awarded a number of tickets in the draw. The more tickets a candidate has entered, the better their chance of being selected as host. Here is the process for how the tickets will be distributed: Each candidate automatically awarded 1 ticket each in the draw. However, additional tickets awarded as follows - did not host in the previous 5 editions (+1 additional ticket) - did not host in the previous 10 editions (+1 additional ticket) - did not host previously (+2 additional tickets) - took part in the previous bidding process (+1 additional ticket). For first-time hosts, they will add an additional ticket for each edition they are unsuccessful for in bidding, thus increasing their chance slightly with each unsuccessful bid. This increase will only be available for first-time hosts. Additionally, if a first-time host missed 2 consecutive bidding campaigns, then their tickets no longer carry forward and they lose those additional tickets.

Wumo replied to Wumo's topic in Totallympics Prediction Contests
I can open the Biathlon Manager Game thread next week. If users need more time to discuss the points systems and format, I will wait a bit. I will open the Biathlon Manager Game thread about one week before the start of the World Cup at latest. I have made templates in the thread for the managers, so they don't have to write PM's to me when they select their team. I have also decided to post the standing of BMG in the thread instead of making a separate excel document. There are also more, but managers will see what that are when the Biathlon Manager Game thread opens. -
Artist to be announced on 25 November Bulgaria returns to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020 and will announce the artist or group who will represent the country in Rotterdam with a press conference on 25 November in the capital Sofia. During the event BNT will also present the production company behind the 2020 Bulgarian entry and the partnering music production company from the UK. The new focus of the Bulgarian participation in Eurovision will be the long-term commercial success of the artists representing Bulgaria in the contest. Another priority will be the development of the creative industry in the country through the international partnerships made possible by the project. The participation in the biggest music event in the world will be used as a platform to showcase the positive image of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people. Totallympics Open International Song Contest 2019
Wumo replied to Wumo's topic in Totallympics International Song Contest
Some very personal thoughts for someone's first time as host: As first time host I did not really know what to expect. I had only previously been a spectator to one TISC and participated in one other, so my TISC-experience was quite small. Fortunately for me, I have had Agger as co-host who has participated many times in TISC and hosted one previously. I knew they were a lot preparation done before a TISC even opens. The most demanding thing during the preparation process was to come up with ideas and an a concept for this TISC. I'm not a person filled with many creative ideas, so this process felt at time frustrating. For me, I felt I had to live up to many different expectations from the users here on the forum. But due to not being overly creative, I often ended up being frustrated with myself. I began to question if I was a good enough host. It even develop into thinking if I was good enough as a person. TiSC and my studies took so much of my time that I did not have time to just sit down and relax. I was really stressed and I couldn't sleep much. This could not go on for much more time. One day, I sat down and said to myself, "Stop blaming yourself and try to live up to everybody's exceptions. Don't think you have to create something new, use ideas you like and adjust them to your liking". After this, I was much more at peace with myself. I started to believe in my own ideas and I didn't care if I used an idea someone had used before. It was okay. When the Grand Final ended yesterday evening/night, I cried, It had been such an emotional rollercoaster for me. All what I have written above seems to tell that I should have said stop during the process before it came to me questioning myself, and yes I should have probably done that, but I didn't. Instead I have been through a personal process where I have learned to accept my own limits. I never thought hosting a song contest on a sports forum would learn me something about my own personal life. I don't think my story is at all a good representaton of hosting an edition of TISC. Don't be scared to host. it's fun when your product is finally done, but it can feel frustrating during the process. TISC is, after all, about trying to create a stronger community here on Totallympics. I will give a special thank you to @Agger, @OlympicIRL and @vinipereira. Thanks to @Agger for the help preparing for TISC as co-host. Credits to his work on the presentation of the different cities and towns. Thanks to @OlympicIRL for his help with different ideas, especially his idea for a point format for the TISC Team Challenge. Thanks to @vinipereira for his help with the design of the logo. It would not have been possible without you. And lastly, thanks to all who have been so kind to have shown their interest and passion for TISC once again -
Totallympics Open International Song Contest 2019

My personal votes: 12 pts. - Amazing vocals from the great Morten Harket. The lyrics felt very personally to me and during my listenings I often shed a tear or two when listening to the song. 11 pts. - This song was already on my own playlist. This is one of my favourite songs by The Stone Roses. I simply adore it. It was long my canditate for the 12 points, but the Norwegian entry was, as I have described above, something truly special for me. 10 pts. - During my first couple of listenings, I didn't like this song. But after more listenings, it really grew on me. The chorus is really what makes this song great. The person or persons who composed this do know how to make a hell of catchy chorus. 9 pts. - This song is truly great. I don't understand a single word, but that doesn't affect this song. Amazing and mesmerizing vocals and great instrumentation overall. Some of the best folk music I have heard in a very long time. 8 pts. - Here comes a story. In my childhood, I was exposed to ABBA a lot, as my parents were and are massive fans of them. I have seen and heard many ABBA musicals. One time we were in Paris on vacation and we went in and saw an ABBA musical in one the theaters. It was in French of course and none of us understood much what was going on, but we just came to listen to the music. I'm impressed I haven't grew tired of their songs. They do really know how to write good pop songs. Mamma Mia is not at all my favourite ABBA song, but still enough to become fifth in my ranking. 7 pts. - A great song with a great message. Loved many elements in this song. Once again, the chorus was a big factor why it ended sixth in my ranking. From here, the songs were very close to each other. All good songs with some good or great elements. 6 pts. - Usually hiphop or hiphop-inspired songs are not really my taste. But the one factor this song came in, and you may have guessed it, the chorus. 5 pts. - It was not in my top 12 at first, but it was yet another song which grew on me the more I listened to it. The chorus has really get stuck in my head. 4 pts. - Electro-swing can be good and this was one of those cases for me. I like the overall vibe of the song. The chorus did not get stuck in my head, like some other songs on my list. However, the song is so good overall that it makes the cut. 3 pts. - I don't have any specific comments about this song. Good overall song, with a good chorus. I just like it. 2 pts. - The vibe/mood of this song is great. It's the reason why it makes my top 12. 1 pt. - It just feels good to have another rock song on the list. Reserves were . Portugal was particular close to make my top 12. Overall, I have 5-6 songs I like from this edition. But I will say, almost all other songs in this editon I wouldn't mind listen to from time to time. will be added to my own personal playlist. It's always good to have some new songs between my many 5-15 mins long progressive metal and melodic metalcore songs. -

Somehting positive for them in the last part of the Grand final. However, the biggest cheer came from the Dutch delegation and fans as no other nation can reach their total which means the Netherlands wins TOISC 2019. Congrats, Netherlands and Caro! Behind the Netherlands, Australia and Sweden are now equal in second place, but Hungary can still take a spot in the top 3 with one national jury left. There is a lot of noise in the venue at the moment, but hopefully it will be possible to hear how the last national jury of the Grand final has voted. It is the Serbian jury who will have the great honour of closing the 2019 TOISC Grand final. Serbia, can we please have your votes? P. s. I have giving up on that top 5. Foop that! But you all know how it stands at the moment anyway and often better than i do. -
