  3. Sorry. I thought you meant Moldova when you wrote "a country mile behind in the Nations Cup"? I will now leave this thread...

  5. The sisters? qualified in Men's Doubles. However, everyone except a Chinese pair qualified. They were second to last, only beating a Austrian pair. https://www.fil-luge.org/cdn/uploads/rlncdoubles-32.pdf
  6. Not that talented, it seems. He will most likely not qualify for Sunday's competition. At least he's still young, so there is hope, right?
  7. Do you mean Aalto? If you do, then he was injured in the beginning of November. https://www.fis-ski.com/en/ski-jumping/ski-jumping-news-multimedia/news/2019-20/antti-aalto-sidelined-for-a-couple-of-weeks
  8. Update - Week 46 - November 11 to November 17 - 2019 Same as last week, no new athletes achieved the entry standard. Qualified Quotas Overview Men (Total Quota: 451) Women (Total Quota: 443)
  9. Future U.S. President, maybe? https://www.thoughtco.com/which-presidents-were-left-handed-105445 "What is perhaps most noteworthy about left-handed presidents is how many there have been in recent decades. Of the last 15 presidents, seven (about 47%) have been left-handed. That might not mean much until you consider that the global percentage of left-handed people is about 10%. So among the general population, only one in ten people are left-handed, while in the modern-era White House, almost one in two have been left-handed".
  10. Hello neighbour. My team, Latający Duńczycy, is located in Gdańsk. Let's see which team is the best in Pomorskie.
  11. There was a press conference today in Norway. It was expected to be mainly about the team selection for this week's competitons in Beitostolen and next week's WC in Ruka. However, Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg held a press conference on her own announcing she would not ski this week or the next. https://www.nrk.no/sport/flugstad-ostberg-trekker-seg-fra-langrennsapningen-1.14790125 She said: - It so happens that I've ended up in a situation where I can't ski. It is very unfortunate that it has become so. Not all health requirements in the health certificate were met. This means that the best thing for me right now is to not ski. I have chosen to train a lot in the recent months. There is a risk of exercising too much and now my body needs time to recover, said Oestberg with a lump in her throat. The Norwegian athletes must regularly undergo a health check before competitions and a health certificate will be completed together with the national team doctor. Among many things, the athletes must answer questions about diet and thoughts on dieting. They are also measured and weighed, as well as hemoglobin levels, blood pressure and heart rate are measured. "... I haven't been good enough to take care of myself... I hope I can be back pretty quickly and get my body back on track", says Oestberg. Oestberg was clearly emotionally affected during the press conference over her situation. At one point she began to cry. Oestberg repeatedly explained that she did not want to go into detail, since she considered it a little too private. The coaches and national team doctor would not go into any more details other than Oestberg had not lived up to some of the health requirements and therefore wasn't fit to compete. National team doctor, Oystein Andersen, said: - As Ingvild says, It's due to health reasons. These skiers are followed very closely throughout the year and we first and foremost focus on the health of the athletes. It's our mantra. Some journalist asked the coaches and national team doctor if her weight was a concern. They would not go into many details but said it could be an issue for some elite athlete to eat enough when they train a lot. However, all clearly stated that Oestberg did not have an eating disorder.
  12. It's a quite long, but nevertherless, interesting article about the real cost of YOG 2018. https://www.jensweinreich.de/2019/10/18/the-real-costs-of-the-youth-olympic-games-2018-in-buenos-aires-at-least-115-billion-usd/
  13. Only to the end of 2019, not the whole season. However, the Swedish camp says she will not start in Tour de Ski. They will not force anything, so maybe she will first be back in the end of January or February.
  14. Ebba Anderson is likely out the rest of the year due to a knee injury. This was confirmed by the national team doctor, Magnus Oscarsson, today. It was during a training run at the national team camp in Bruksvallarna that Andersson fell and hit the knee where she has previously sustained an injury.
  15. It's due to stormy weather conditions on the competition days. The organisers could not guarantee the safety of the skiers and complete fairness for all skiers during their runs. https://www.oesv.at/news/wetterkapriolen-verhindern-freeski-weltcup-stubai/ (In German).
  16. Correct. After the two first races the managers are allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10. I have considered some different options about the top 10 during the process of creating this: 1. Managers weren't allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10 before WC stage 4. This would likely make managers consider if it was worth switching out a weak biathlete with a strong biathlete, as it could cost a lot of points because of the transfer system. 2. Buying biathletes from the top 10 would cost 2 transfers instead of 1. 3. Have a cap/maximum of Top 10 biathletes on a team. Managers were only allowed to have 5 top 10 biahtletes on their team at the same time. I'm aware that many managers will likely stock up on biathletes from the top 10, as many of them will likely perform well throughout the season. It could lead to very similar teams. I'm still not certain how much of an effect the limit of biathletes per nation and negative points from the transfer system could have on managers' will to buy biathletes from the top 10? As I have written earlier, this season is being used to see how the different systems works in this game. It's easier to see what works and doesn't after the season is over.
  17. team for Wisla: Daniel-André Tande Robert Johansson Johann André Forfang Robin Pedersen Thomas Aasen Markeng Marius Lindvik It's a bit of a surpise that Halvor Egner Granerud has not been selected. He was 15th in the overall world cup and 3rd best Norwegian last season. He was also the 3rd best Norwegian jumper in the summer grand prix, so I would have expected to see him here. However, he was 56th in the qualification last year in Wisla. It could be a reason. Besides, they probably want to see how the young Thomas Aasen Markeng can perform in the World Cup. It was most likely a decision between Granerud and Pedersen and they likely selected Pedersen because of Granerud's poor perfomance on the hill last year.
  18. Norway IBU cup 1:
  19. Norway's team for WC 1: Tiril Eckhoff Emilie Kalkenberg Karoline Knotten Marte O. Roeiseland Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold Lars Helge Birkeland Erlend Bjoentegaard Johannes T. Boe Tarjei Boe Vetle S. Christiansen Johannes Dale Synnove Solemdal or Thekla Brun-Lie will join the women's team after the first IBU Cup 1 sprint. The best of the two on the sprint will get the last spot.
  20. Henrik L'Abee Lund has retired and Sindre Petersen is part of the development team this season, so Dale's spot in the WC team is somewhat safe. Norway is one of those nations who have 6 men in their Elite team, which is basically the WC team. This season it's: Lars Helge Birkeland Erlend Oevereng Bjoentegaard Johannes Thingnes Boe Tarjei Boe Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen Johannes Dale http://www.skiskyting.no/?module=Articles&action=Article.publicOpen&id=269 The reserves for the first WC are: Aleksander Fjeld Andersen Endre Stromsheim It's interesting to see that Sindre Petersen is not even a reserve for the first WC. I think the Norwegian coaches gave the two reserve spots to Andersen and Stromsheim because of their podium places in Sjusoen. Of course the biathletes in the Elite team are not safe at all if they do not perform up to the tough Norwegian standard in men's biathlon. There are a bunch of very good, young biathletes who are ready to take their spots.
  21. Just to clarify: Managers can select a maximum of 3 biathletes of the 19 in the template. Nation Biathlete Placement in Last Season's WC Women Dorothea Wierer 1. Lisa Vittozzi 2. Marte Olsbu Roeiseland 4. Hanna Oeberg 5. Paulina Fialkova 6. Kaisa Makarainen 7. Denise Herrmann 8. Franziska Preuss 9. Monika Hojnisz-Starega 10. Men Johannes Thingnes Boe 1. Alexander Loginov 2. Quentin Fillon Maillet 3. Simon Desthieux 4. Arnd Peiffer 5. Tarjei Boe 6. Benedikt Doll 7. Simon Eder 8. Julian Eberhard 9. Lukas Hofer 10. So managers can choose one of these options: 3 women and 0 men, 3 men and 0 women, 2 women and 1 man, 2 men and 1 woman. Of course managers are not forced to select 3 biathletes from the template. They can also choose to select only 2, 1 or no biathletes from the template above. I'm sorry if it wasn't clearly written. My mistake.

  24. Selecting your biathlon team Your biathlon team will consist of 5 female and 5 male biathletes. You are only allowed to select 2 biathletes from the same nation. Only 1 male and 1 female biathlete from the same nation are allowed. 2 male or 2 female biathletes are not allowed. Exception! In case of two races are held on the same day, the standing will be updated after the last race of the day have been completed. The standing will include every manager's total points and the points the biathlete on his/her team have scored in that race. You can check the total points and individual race points of every biathlete in this document: BMG Biathlete Points (1) (2) (1) (1) (1) (1).xlsx Notice! The document already contains a list of biathletes. This list is only provisional! It's not a 100% accurate representation of the final start lists for the sprints in the WC 1. Many federations have yet to select their team and injuries and illnesses can happen, so do remember to check IBU's datacenter for the official start lists. An updated version of the document will be published together with an updated standing of BMG.
