  4. After the heats here's how the quota simulation is looking. Comparing between heats isn't a great idea plus some athletes might be resting, but it's fun to see where things stand. M1x - LM2x - W1x - LW2x - Mexico and Chile could have qualified in the men's single sculls, but the limit prevented them. As Brazil is currently second in both the M1x and LM2x I assume they want more athletes, but that may not be the case. If they go for the M1x the LM2x quota would go to Venezuela (leapfrogging Chile due to the limit). Still lots of racing to go.

  18. Having a look through the schedule here is some of the big days for Team Ireland Included a few outside chances here that probably unlikely to medal but not without some realistic chance. On the otherhand I have not included outside chances that may yet come to fruition, for example boxing could have more chances when the team is finalised, men's road race cycling and other outside chances in equestrian (individual jumping). Overall it looks most likely we will win our first medal on Day 4 or 5 and then with a lot of chances coming on the middle weekend. Our first gold could possibly be on Day 7 in the men's lightweight double sculls. 31. It makes sense, but for 2040 it's been 24 years after Rio... I'm sure Brazil (and Mexico) is on a limbo because it's not either safe option neither ground breaking. With the lack of cities vying, it could open a path for São Paulo, provided that they host a superb Pan Am in 2031 and start to host more and more international sports events. But we know that the interest for hosting comes and goes. In the 70/80s it was fairly easy to get: only 4 cities in total applied for 76/80/84 and one of them pulled out - and other 2 for 88. But then in the 90s you had dozens of cities trying...
