  1. I can't see the video but Yes the total internet shutdown is true. it's like being in prison. if you ask how I'm here now, let's say I know a bit about the computers and found a way which is very slow and minimum.

  2. It's a quite long, but nevertherless, interesting article about the real cost of YOG 2018. https://www.jensweinreich.de/2019/10/18/the-real-costs-of-the-youth-olympic-games-2018-in-buenos-aires-at-least-115-billion-usd/

  3. There is a huge difference, really. Shooting in biathlon is much more appealing compared to sport shooting and modern pentathlon. It's physical - you can see the bullets hitting targets (in slow motion at least), you can see targets being moved, you can hear the sound. Not just a sound of a shot being fired, but also a sound of target being hit or missed. When camera zooms you can see where exactly the bullets have hit or missed. Sport shooting is just following live scores, and modern penathlon is following lights. Boring. Pointless. It's really no wonder that biathlon is incomparable to those sports in terms of fan following. So... Biathlon shooting >>>>>>>>>>>>> Other shooting.

  4. Probably a translation mistake caused by the fact that in Norwegian language there is no difference between "is part of the national team" and "has been diagnosed with asthma"...

  6. Only to the end of 2019, not the whole season. However, the Swedish camp says she will not start in Tour de Ski. They will not force anything, so maybe she will first be back in the end of January or February.

  7. Wow, who knew a poorly worded article would cause so much discussion. I love the 5 targets, the reloading, the wind, all of it.

  8. But how do you enter an extra bullet during the relays in laser rifle?
    2 points
  9. Well, I'm the generation which doesn't know other pentathlon than the one with laser and this sound is quite characteristic (at least for me). About reloading manually - it is reloaded manually. In pentathlon you need to lower your shooting arm before doing that. In rifle it's a button-like... something you push with your thumb. At least in the version I used (it also had quite an easy aiming system). It all can be reconstructed for biathlon purposes, if needed.

  10. I know it’s possible, but I think Pentathlon lost a bit of excitement since it went to laser. First - no sound no drama! OK, trivial, but more importantly, reloading manually is itself a mini-discipline which is lost with laser shooting. I can think of biathlon races which have been won & lost by fumbled reloads by frozen fingers, and even in MP I can remember some real meltdowns in the air pistol days.

  14. A possibility (though I’m not a huge fan of Atlanta), but I’m much more well acquainted with, and model my writing after the Inside the Games team. Inside The Games also has much better health benefits, career benefits, and travel benefits.

  15. Which all makes it a better option than women's four, but not a good option overall (yet). Give it 4-5 seasons of solid World Cup action before thinking about adding it.

  17. At the first Junior World Cup weekend of this year, some highlights for me: Diego Amaya and Nil Llop were the two best male skaters in their age category (B2 = born in 2003) in the men's 1.000m. Amaya finished in 11th place behind 10 juniors all at least one year older, but most of them two years older. So that's a good thing. Llop finished in 11/59 in the 500m Szymon Wojtakowski is also a very exciting prospect, born in 2005 finishing 15/60 on the same 1.000m for boys, in 1.15.21, which is an impressive time for a 14 year old on an outdoor rink. On the womens side, I noted more and more skaters from non-traditional speed skating countries such as and especially . If the Spanish skaters keep progressing, we might see a solid Spanish team pursuit / team sprint team in the future. On the girls' side, is (too) dominant, winning all events, on the men's side had the highest number of podium places and wins, even in the longer distances.

  18. Right it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely enjoyable. Television is doing pretty well this year compared to movies in my opinion. The quality has been better overall. Besides, 2 or 3 blockbusters this year, movies have largely been a bust in my opinion.

  20. The pace definitely picked up in the third episode which is good. It's really well produced and that alone is enough to keep my attention. As you say though, would like the plot to thicken a bit more to allow for more twists to be thrown into plot further on. But happy enough to continue watching

  26. Correct. After the two first races the managers are allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10. I have considered some different options about the top 10 during the process of creating this: 1. Managers weren't allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10 before WC stage 4. This would likely make managers consider if it was worth switching out a weak biathlete with a strong biathlete, as it could cost a lot of points because of the transfer system. 2. Buying biathletes from the top 10 would cost 2 transfers instead of 1. 3. Have a cap/maximum of Top 10 biathletes on a team. Managers were only allowed to have 5 top 10 biahtletes on their team at the same time. I'm aware that many managers will likely stock up on biathletes from the top 10, as many of them will likely perform well throughout the season. It could lead to very similar teams. I'm still not certain how much of an effect the limit of biathletes per nation and negative points from the transfer system could have on managers' will to buy biathletes from the top 10? As I have written earlier, this season is being used to see how the different systems works in this game. It's easier to see what works and doesn't after the season is over.

  27. I saw the thing about Eckhoff laughed. I think the article has been run through Google translator. As to how I am made aware of them, I have a Google alert set up. Lots of random stuff come across my e-mail, I only post those that seem to have any relevance at all.

  39. withdrew from hosting the 2020 Nation's League finals, because the date ( 1-5 july) would interfere with their Independence Day Come on, I understand patriotism, but withdrawing less than a year before the competition starts is just so low Also in related news, another great idea came from the brilliant minds of FIVB, who demands a fee of ONE MILLION DOLLAR from the federations that want to replace the U.S as host Something tells me they will push the hosting to Poland again after they realize how ridiculous their demands are and that noone is going to apply for hosting rights once agaIn
