  1. Honestly, any sport not being broadcast is an IOC fuck-up that's truly beyond belief. Don't market an event as a big deal if nobody is going to be able to really watch it anyway. A massive majority of sports fans (in countries where winter sports are significant) won't even have any clue the whole thing is going on in the next weeks. God knows it won't make any news here.

  8. have officially selected the first 2 Olympic crews women's ILCA 6: Chiara Benini Floriani despite the quota place was won by Carolina Albano, the 3rd place in last year's pre-Olympic Regatta in Marseille and the 18th place at the recent world champs in Argentina gave Benini Floriani the edge over Albano, who finished in a miserable 40th place at the world champs women's 49er FX: Jana Germani & Giorgia Bertuzzi this was never in doubt, they definitely are our best crew in this class (despite having a bad week at last year's world champs, they won gold and silver at the last 2 European champs and performed well in many other international regattas)

  17. She made the Top 30 start list in World Cup after Flachau. It would be rather dumb from her to throw this out of the window by withdrawing important next WC races. Weird for for sure, but completely logical and clever for her. She is already in Jasná right now preparing for the weekend races btw

  19. I know , but Japan has been really dominating matches recently , they defeated Jordan 6-1 days before the tournament , whom can really defeat Iraq easily . Whatever the result Iraq will achieve , they have always proven to be true fighters , it's always not easy mission facing them in Asian Cup since 2007

  20. if this result stays, both Korea and Iran should think twice about winning their groups otherwise Japan has to go through Korea and then Iran to reach the semifinal

  35. Sabalenka really wanted that double bagel. Actually Tsurenko somewhat acknowledged her at the net now that the war thing is common bread for most people outside of Ukraine. She plays Amanda Anisimova in R4 as the American beat Paula Badosa 7-5 6-4. Mind you, Anisimova leads the h2h 4-1!

  36. Can't believe that Barber is gone! During the 2015 Pan Am Games I sent a couple of athletes friends request on facebook. He not only accepted but was always super friendly and during the Rio Games we chatted a bit more and he even wrote he would try to get me tickets for the pole vault final. Was super happy to read his come out post on facebook in the spring of 17, but hard to know what was it about. Afterwards he disappeared from social media and his results got a bit behind as well.

  37. Crazy match between Rybakina and Blinkova. Disappointed Rybakina couldn't convert her match points. After great Brisbane she should have made at least semifinal here. That quarter of the draw is hilarious now. If Zheng really aspires to get far, she has a great chance here. Pegula losing early ain't surprising - losing to Burel is what is baffling a bit Gauff keeps getting cakewalks to semifinals and I can see Aryna losing her sh*t again in the semis against Coco But would love to see Iga spanking Swiatek yet again! With Rybakina being out, and Ostapenko being big IF as always, Iga could (should) make the final relatively easy.
