Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Qualification Quota Simulation
Josh and 2 others reacted to Topicmaster1010 for a topic
Hello everyone! You may or may not remember this thread from the beginning of the year. With 2023 winding down, the time has come to create an updated simulation based on 2023 results! There are a few questions I have that I wonder if anyone knows the answer of. 1. First things first, this time, I want to try to put myself in the shoes of some more strict NOC's and try to reject certain quotas that they normally would. Does anyone have any links to the selection policies for Netherlands and South Africa? I've already found the selection policy for New Zealand. Every other NOC I'm just going to accept all quotas. If there's any other potential quotas that could be rejected, please let me know. 2. Now that Russia and Belarus have been allowed entry, it has made things reeeeeeallly annoying to simulate. I was wondering if anyone knows if there's any sports federations that won't allow them to compete (or have certain limitations)? I know World Athletics is still banning them and World Aquatics is limiting to one athlete for both countries in swimming. Also, will Russia and Belarus be competing together as one NOC?3 points -

If you have thinking, that it's been a year without scandals in Bulgarian weightlifting, fear no more.. So, after a couple of attempts, including one stripped hosting 2 years ago, we are finally going to host the European Weightlifting Championships in February. It is of course included in the Olympic qualification calendar. All good so far. But on Friday, an adviser working for the Ministry of Sports was arrested for bribing the President of the weightlifting federation. He was asking for 30 k Euros from the President, so that the Ministry approves the funding of 600 k Euros for hosting the Euro Championships. This worker turned out to be the son of the National team coach. The next day, the coach himself - Ivan Ivanov, Olympic Champion 92, 4 times World Champion, was also arrested in suspicion of being an accomplice to his son.. The same National coach who has been on the helm for over a decade now and who the Federation have tried removing a few times in the past years. But every time the proposal of a new coach was brought up, almost all of the weightlifters, including Karlos Nasar, have said that they would boycott the National team, if Ivanov was not the coach. Given, that we have our biggest boom in the past 20 years, i'm not denying the work being done by Ivanov, but his relationship with the Federation was always very iffy. Not that those guys are some saints, not by any means, but you can never guess who's in the right. Let's see how things develop and if any charged will be pressed against him.1 point

beat 4-3 and progress to Round 3. Was a real hard battled game, I watched the whole last period and despite the very low speed and a few really silly decisions by players here and there it was a fun match to watch is already leading 3-0 after 1st frame. One sided game as expected1 point

Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Qualification Quota Simulation
Topicmaster1010 reacted to JoshMartini007 for a topic
Here's the Netherlands qualification standards Besides athletics/swimming (or injuries) most NOCs accept their quotas. Sweden usually has additional requirements, especially if the person that earned the quota is unfit to use it. Sailing Canada has declined quotas in the past as they don't want poor results impacting their funding.1 point -

68kg: Magomedov was the surprise winner, he also takes the quota. (a bit consolation that this quota didn't go back to the 6th guy in the ranking who didn't deserve it at all) 80kg: Barkhordari wins the gold and the quota . he did that with only and only one win ! 57kg: Minina (AIN) won the gold but Luo finished first in GS series despite losing the final. she already has the quota, therefore Lo will get the quota. +67kg: Khan (AIN) won the gold but same as 57kg, that wasn't enough, Xiao finishes first in GS ranking and takes the quota. but keep in mind, nothing is official until WT confirms it1 point

If I'm not mistaken, this is Sighel's first penalty this season; last year, he used to get at least one per race. However, it's also the first race where Sighel is back to doing what he does best, taking risks at full throttle. The penalty is fair; he widened his arm a bit. But I'm glad to have seen him lively, especially after the insults he received yesterday on a well-known Italian sports Facebook page (to which he responded).1 point

Disappointing quarterfinal exit for Canada’s men’s 5000m relay, but other than that it’s been a pretty good WC for us. Excited to see what we’ll be able to do at future WCs and the World Championships in Rotterdam, with Kim Boutin back it could provide us with a couple more medal chances.1 point

Yes, it should be fine this time... but due to the experience from the previous Olympics, well, we will still remain in alert if you do not mind until the very end.
