Also eight quotas have been declined.

:AUS - M -100kg

:PRK - W -48kg

:NZL - W -57kg

:BEL - W -70kg

:CAN - W -70kg

:SLO - W -78kg

:PNG - W +78kg

:RUS - W +78kg

Quotas seemed to have been reallocated in an order based on which nations declined first.

:NZL:PNG were continental quotas, but none remain so they were reallocated to the highest ranked eligible athlete :TUR  (W -49kg) and :ALG (W +78kg)

:BEL was a continental quota so it went to the next highest European nation without one, :CRO (W +78kg). Same with :PRK where the quota went to :VIE (W -52kg).

The simple reallocations were :CAN:SLO:RUS going to the next highest ranked nations in the same event :TUN:USA:USA respectively.

:AUS hasn't been reallocated (which is why we have 391 athletes instead of 392). It should go to :NRU and if they decline it would go to :TGA before going to the overall ranking (assuming it will ever be reallocated since we are now past the deadline)

Also the :COL Yuri Alvear -70kg quota is not there anymore, but was not re-allocated

+ during the updates I had to remove 2 :GBR W and 2 :AUS M quotas, because we had them listed but were not in the entry lists, that should do the counts I guess now

It was reallocated to the women's -48kg for :COL (continental quota)

wow, that's strange! Why is that? You haven't even tried to get a qualification in men's judo? I'm sure Chinese judo could have some male athletes in Tokyo if only wanted to? Don't understand what happened.

consequence of the pandemic restrictions to travel, I guess...

they had to miss too many tournaments and gave up too many points in the last few months (and they weren't that good to get any exempt from the national policy about that)...

luckily, at least their women were so high in the standings that could save their quota places...

Partially because of the covid for sure. We skipped many tournaments after the pandemic began but still not all tournaments. It's not the main reason I think. Because judo just take into account best 5 stages of 2019-2021 season. Some of them attended 5-6 stages but all with bad performance. You may argue that they may have 2-3 more chances without covid, but I don't think it would make significant difference. All in all. They suck. Period.

    • Typical short attention span call. Might as well revise demonstration sports and stop pretending you can make something (aka "host city sport") global. Not surprised, even the five seconds of break dancing fame ended on speed dial after that terrribly amateurish performance from that Australian "competitor".
    • While all other federations announce their squads in a single list, our federation thought it appropriate to announce the athletes as if they were reality show participants (Announcing one or two per week).   I wonder if we'll have a full team by the start of the Nations League.
    • Without being too cruel, the shotgun events with the exploding clays make MUCH easier television.
    • I'm not as convinced of that. Canoe slalom, which I love, has venue cost issues, but then so does track cycling. As for more African or Asian chances, Squash is a pure hit for Egyptians, despite its quite NH roots. I struggle to think of that many sports where African hopes will be improved by a sports change. China and Japan do perfectly well as is, with both having a numbr of their 'specialist' sports already in, and keeping Cricket plays to the subcontinent.
    • Agree.   Long felt Olympics should try, where possible to ensure 'families' of sports are represented - didn't feel right, for example that neither baseball nor cricket where in recent games because while very different sports, almost opposite in some ways, they do represent a distinct family of sports, including rounders etc i.e. "bat and ball 'safe home'" sports that are widely popular and really should be included (even if by alternation - baseball in one cycle, cricket the next etc)   Kabaddi, as well as being a South Asian sport is a 'tag' sport, is part of a family of sports and games not really represented at all at the Games - the parkour 'pursuit' format (two guy chasing each other over obstacles in a large metal cube) would be another of that family though again hugely different from Kabaddi.   I'm glad Squash is in LA, but we do have lots of racquet sports. I'm happy Lacrosse is there, but we do have hockey and ice hockey for "'bat and ball - goal". While kickboxing, karate and Sambo aren't there both striking and grappling combat sports are well represented.   The other big family completely missing, imho are bowling sports - curling is he closest we get - and cue sports, which are not close enough to be covered by golf.
    • I read somewhere that they have qualification standards for athletics. But if you ask me, it doesn’t make any sense limiting the number of athletes in track and field. At the last Games, most of the field events were straight finals. And the majority of the track events were heats and finals.
    • It's unfortunate that it isn't very international at all, but if you take that part away, I still think kabaddi would be the best addition to the Olympic program one can imagine. Mostly in the sense of it being something that really adds something so absolutely different from anything that has ever been on the program.   Not just another sport with a ball-like object, or an event where we do the same thing just either slightly shorter or longer, but something entirely different.
    • Where can I donate to avoid this happening? As with any sport, I'd prefer them to stay, but if I would be the one that has to choose between one of them, I'd at least keep the one where you see action and remove the one where in a majority of the events you do not see the athlete move, you do not see anything move at all, but all one can do is stare at an entirely still athlete until a dot pops up somewhere.
    • Just went through the whole playlist on Spotify these days, hadn't heard any of the songs before, but.....this year isn't very..good, is it?     I was waiting for at least one or two songs to be like "huh, this is kinda alright", but then the playlist stopped.
    • I hate that the Host City Sports are over cause I wanted something random and funny like Kabaddi if the 2036 Games went to India or Camel Racing (although most likely MMA-ist) if they went to Doha.....
