If they don't want to have 17 teams in those two relays, then they should invite the Swiss and Irish swimmers (perhaps only those not qualified in other events) from the relay teams to compete in individual events. As I mentioned before, it reminds me of the Kristel Vourna situation from 2016 where they invited her, revoked the invitation, then re-invited her (only after they faced backlash for it).

Having at most 3-4 additional swimmers in Tokyo really isn't going to kill them.

True. But FINA have already screwed up the Diving..again affecting Ireland..so the IOC may have lost patience

Waiting for them to screw up women's water polo and get Greece in at the last minute  (we're the alternates if someone withdraws)

On an unrelated note, can someone tell me if a swimmer has an OQT in one event, are they allowed to enter any event that they have an OST (providing not above 2 per nation quota)?

No. They changed that rule. I’m not sure of the exact new rule but it was mentioned in commentary at the Irish trials that Darragh Greene getting the A time at the 200m and 100m breaststroke was important as he wasn’t guaranteed to be allowed in both with only a B time

Provided nobody from the same nation is already entered for that event.* Two swimmers are allowed only if they both have OQT in the event concerned.

I don't believe they changed this rule.

EDIT: Yeah, the Polish federation confirms it. It would be dumb if relay swimmers can start an individual event with an OST, while those with an OQT can't get the same treatment.

Madeline Groves has withdrawn from the Australian trials, due to the behaviour of certain people in the federation ('perverts', her words), by the looks of it. Obviously she isn't giving up her Olympic dreams just because of some little thing, so it's a rather sad situation.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

What's the path for her to qualify then?

She doesn't have one. He just meant that the issue must be serious because she wouldn't give up the Olympics over something small
